If Cal South sent its four best teams, in most ages they'd have 3 of the 4 semifinalists. In any event, it's a huge time and cost commitment to do a regional tournament-particularly in region IV. It's substantially more than a DA or ECNL tournament with lesser competition and exposure. The USYSA tournament argument is no longer persuasive because that competition has been superseded by the DA, ECNL and the big tournaments like Dallas, Disney and Surf.
I disagree that the ODP Regional Championships has lesser competition and exposure than a ECNL event. There were tons of college coaches in AZ. Also, most of the states that matter represent at the competition. You will see Montana, Alaska, and Hawaii under-represented but that is mostly because they cannot field a team that will compete with the other states. Why bother if you are going to get spanked.

The difference is you have to work at it. Whereas, I have never needed to.

If you really looked at it you would see the states that don't send teams are likely on the lower end of the competitive scale. All the top end states send teams, and I have seen it happen where you have an all-cal semi-final. The nice thing is in order to go you have to have won something. The So-Cal Second place state cup team stays home. (or signs up for US Club regionals) So you have State Champions, Regional League Champions and then they will mix a wild card in.

Sure you can argue the summer tournaments yo have gone to are better, or whatever blows your sail, but a tournament requiring qualification will always outclass one that you can just sign up and pay...

It always makes me laugh when people start tossing around tournaments like SURF cup. The Surf Cup super group is a phenomenal group to be a part of. They take only the 25 best teams, and let them play out, The rest of surf is just a general entry tournament. It is in San Diego which is nice, but otherwise not too special.

Since only a few Oregon teams have ever made the Super Group, it makes me believe you are talking about the general tourney.

We know this. Cal South is by far the best in nation and we get to play them at region IV championships. Alway the best competition pretty much anywhere when you play Cal South ODP.

Nope. Super Group. Won the Surf College Cup. Been to regionals a few times too. The teams at Surf are on the whole better than the teams at regionals. The teams that are successful at regionals are usually at Surf too. Laugh if you want, but it's from actual experience.

I would still put Cal South ODP team higher than pretty much any team I can think of, surf or otherwise. If your DK gets a chance to play Cal South it is a wonderful opportunity.

Living in the past might make you think you know something but it only makes us who are up to date on female youth soccer are laugh at you. The ODP programs in any state with an ECNL presence has been gutted of the best players. Look at the resume's of the recent recruits to the top college programs around the country and you will see CURRNET ECNL player nearly 70% of the time.

Even the ODP hold over camps are losing their luster because the best players are opting out of a FAILED system.

It may take a while before you understand the current status of competitive girls soccer and maybe even longer before you can see the trend but at least you have been told .....once!

I have seen ECNL showcases, and while there are some great teams, there were also plenty of weaker teams, similar to what Oregon ECNL will likely be. At least oregon ODP put most of the best players together (I'm not saying all so calm down), now you have some spread all over the place. 'Pop off' when oregon ECNL has done something.

I think that's part of the problem with you ECNL 'know it alls'. You come across as arrogant pric*s. Really not the kind of people I want to hang around on the sidelines. Bleh
