Their view of prestigious and elite is not something you earn, it is something you buy, and because they are the richest in the universe they believe themselves to have extra dominion over all that is "elite". True status has to be earned with work, not money. It is available to all, not just the select few, and it is measured on the field, not by how much you paid.Comment

Take a look at regionals, particularly region IV. There are states that don't bother to send teams in many of the age groups. If states don't bother to send teams then it's not really a REAL regional, leading to a REAL national tournament represented by all 50 states. If Cal South sent its four best teams, in most ages they'd have 3 of the 4 semifinalists. In any event, it's a huge time and cost commitment to do a regional tournament-particularly in region IV. It's substantially more than a DA or ECNL tournament with lesser competition and exposure. The USYSA tournament argument is no longer persuasive because that competition has been superseded by the DA, ECNL and the big tournaments like Dallas, Disney and Surf.Originally posted by Marbull View PostComment
