The three primary holdouts from moving to OYSA were (the now combined) crossfire united, and FC PDX. If they had not held out it is reasonable to expect we would already have unified leagues.

They have now achieved their holy grail and gotten ECNL, and are essentially stepping off the radar.

It is just curious to me that they would have been so concerned about Timbers poaching their players, and yet they have been on a months long spree of convincing everyone how uncompetitive the timbers leagues are...

It seems each time they make a statement when their real motive comes out it is radically different.

Basically, there are 3 options here:

      1) All teams in OYSA (only possible if Timbers give up control of running the league)
      2) All teams in OPL (Timbers won't want to admit failure)
      3) Some teams in each

Most likely scenario is #3, although in a different manner than we have today. Going forward, the OPL will run the premier league for girls and OYSA will run the premier league for boys. Split along gender lines but who cares? Boys don't play against girls teams anyways.

You are funny, now that the OPL clubs have ENCL they have no reason to make a fuss over OYSA league. There biggest issue was the Timbers recruiting their girls away, but now that they have the highest level for the girls, there biggest issue is gone. They can work out the rest to get it back together.

This is all bs. I've never ever heard anyone say they were concerned about Timbers recruiting their players. There you go again.... just because you have an MLS patch on and use the Timbers name, you think you're all of a sudden a better club than you were before???

All the stuff about money going to timbers, timbers have control, ect really was a back seat to the idea of losing players to Timbers.

YOURE A TROLL.... quit posting to yourself. TA Troll ALERT.

OPL never made a fuss over OYSA anyway. OPL is just fine and will get stronger. OYSA is the league that's in trouble.

                Issues have always been:

                1) Timbers requiring that clubs not field teams in USSDA or ECNL
                2) Clubs being required to allow Timbers to recruit on the behalf of TA clubs
                3) Timbers offering special programs that are only available to TA clubs
                4) Timbers using funds from youth soccer to fun the USSDA teams

Issue #1 is now a moot point. Timbers might not like it but there isn't anything they can do about it now. The other issues are still there and need to be resolved before there can be reunification of the leagues.

Simplest solution is that the Timbers give up operating the league and hand it back to OYSA or an OYSA/OPL partnership.

                  How do you figure? Really?
If you are not THUSC, FC PDX, or Crossfire Oregon, there is little reason to stay with OPL. I'm all for ECNL and it will make those girls' teams strong. If you are in OPL presently and are not with one of those three clubs, run don't walk to OYSA. It will be nice to have unified soccer again, and there is not a chance in hell that it will be under the OPL umbrella. (And I'll respond to you very clever retorts in advance - No, I'm not with OYSA. Yes, my daughter does ECNL and will continue to do so. Trolls unwelcome.)

Reunified league will probably be sanctioned by OYSA but NOT operated by the Timbers.

Great. Glad you believe that. Timbers will have no say in any of it. <wink wink>

It won't happen any other way.

You are truly a clown aren't you? The only people who cared about any of these issues were the remaining OPL docs, they didn't even care so much about the issue, it was more about the personality conflicts between GW, JB, and them.

1 is truly a non-issue with the arrival of ECNL.
                          2 is an OPL myth.
3 is a reality of clubs deciding to join the timbers alliance. Just like OPL provided special programs internally.
4 if the Timbers are paid to administer the league, it is their business to decide where to use that money.

It is laughable that folks from OPL still think they are in a position where they can set requirements for them coming back to OYSA.

All agree it would be nice to have everyone united, but no one should expect to come in and demand special things...

Who cares who backs down to make this happen - if they are truly in talks, they all (DOCs, Organizations, Timbers) need our encouragement to make this happen. . . not easy to make a deal with someone you've fought with in the past.

If anything, whoever "backs down" to make this happen I think it should be celebrated. If it is the Timbers, I am paying full price for some replica uniforms at Providence Park. A drop in the bucket I guess, but will do it nonetheless.

Let's put an end to the bickering, and focus on the future.
