    One league again

Last night at the Crossfire United presentation on their ECNL program TA and FM admitted that they will have to go back to a single league for the remainder of the OPL club teams. He said that negotiations are underway.

There is little doubt this will happen as the three remaining OPL clubs have now taken their "A" teams out of the OPL therefore there is no "there" there in the OPL.

So the silver lining for the balance of Oregon Youth Soccer is that there going to be a united league again!

That would be a good development.

I hope you are right. I will be asking our Timbers club to try to unite again as I think we all agree it is best.

Hope this happens. Time to cast aside the "politics" and do what is right for the players.
Could care less if it's OPL or OYSA the important thing is moving back to a single league.

I think you could poll the 5,000 or so parents in Portland that have kids in soccer and probably get a 4950 yes to 50 no vote on reunification.

This would be a very positive move.

Amen to that - lets hope they can get this deal done.

This is not entirely accurate. It is true that the OPL and OSYA are working together to reunify soccer.

This would make sense. The main big issue the remaining OPL clubs seemed to have was the idea of Timber poaching their players, but now that they have the in road on the elite girls there really is no reason to remain apart. All the stuff about money going to timbers, timbers have control, ect really was a back seat to the idea of losing players to Timbers.

No matter how you slice it and dice it, Portland area soccer can not support two "competitive" leagues. It's a huge disservice to those thousands of non-ECNL players.
That should be readily apparent by now to both the OYSA and OPL. If league politics and/or personal egos prevail, the development of youth soccer will pay the price.

If the movement towards reunification is true, consider emailing your DOC and club president (OPL, TA, fence-riders) encouraging them to be reasonable in getting this deal done and done fast. Parents may not have caused the split in the first place, but they can support/encourage the solution.

I hope it stays split. Driving to Eugene to beat up on little suzy's was that much fun.

That makes a lot more sense than just moving to OYSA (USYSA)

So now that they are in the position of poaching the Timbers players they are eager to move back? Everything you say may be true, It will be some time however before I am able to trust that OPL doesn't have ulterior motives.

Quite funny - so now that it would be an even playing field and OPL and OYSA are talking you think it was all OPL that was behind the pull out! HMMM might want to rethink that
