Originally posted by Unregistered View PostThis is crazy. Just another example of taking youth sports beyond something that's healthy. A high school player will have practically zero time for schoolwork during high school soccer. Its hard enough as it is, but adding two practices a week on top of high school practices and games. Really? Two high school game nights, two high school practices the other nights, and then running off to Liberty two nights. Common FC, you have lost it. Four nights a week during the rest of year, not to mention the travel. No ECNL teams in CA or anywhere do this during school. This is a couple of coaches gone nuts. Again, it's not about what's healthy for the kids, it's about trying to build an empire. Your kids are being treated like cattle.
And to the rabid ECNL fanatics, before you hit me with an "if you can't do this obscene schedule you don't have what it takes", let me save you the comment by saying, you're right. I don't have what it takes to drive my kid into the ground so that some club can try to build an empire and further inflate their egos. I don't have what it take to screw my DD's high school education to chase an unrealistic fantasy. I don't have what it takes to drink the cool aid and believe that without one, and I mean ONE, night to focus on studies or just plain recoup you sanity during the week is a good idea. I don't have what it take to send my daughter the message that what defines her is soccer and soccer alone, and not academics, social connections, family time, and or any other interests beyond of soccer.
If you think this is a good idea, whether you have a superstar or superdud, you need to have your head examined.

You have no idea what training and medical staff are available onsite. They can mend up any worn out bodies.
You all are cute acting like you know anything. This will be unlike anything you've ever seen. 5 days of HS soccer and 2 days two exnl per week is totally doable. I have great faith in the staff.

Or, if you parents are real serious about this you will do what ECNL players in other states do and hire your own Personal Trainer/Massuese/Dietician.
It is time to go big or go home!

It is a fun venue, a fun team, an atmosphere to die for, and you want to take your ball and go home.
Oh, and the Timbers SUCK! Check them out sitting in last place.
Go Sounders!
