They might be better without combining. Washington teams should seriously just avoid Oregon altogether, play RCL. Will get noticed there. If you are good enough, do discovery with Crossfire or Wa Premier.

Not true
Originally posted by Unregistered View PostThe title to the thread iswhat are the chances of any of the OR ECNL teams being decent. The original post concluded that several OR teams have a chance to be decent based on their performance in the NWCL (where they have faced ECNL competition in the past). I pointedout that the ECNL teams are not fielding their strongest teams in the NWCL. Therefore, one should be careful about assuming competitiveness in NWCL means competitiveness in ECNL. Competitiveness in NWCL may be a fair barometer of the relative competitiveness of OR teams, but not much of a barometer of competitiveness in ECNL.
Bottom line, the first year OR ECNL teams will likely struggle as they adjust to their new teams, in some cases coaches, and the new competition going into an existing league. They are like the new NBA or MLS expansion teams and may struggle the first year. But I believe they will adjust and with the exception of a few, will do quite well. Why would anyone here wish the Oregon girls failure in the first place?

The challenge will be to play faster
As a parent who has watched a full year of ECNL league play, multiple teams at 3 National Showcases and the National playoffs what you notice is how much faster even the weaker teams play than even our best teams.
Crossfire United will be able to put the physical talent on the pitch but the question is can they be coached to play faster and smarter! In ECNL you get two maaaaaybe 3 touches before you are taken on by a very skilled and aggressive defender. To be successful PDX teams will need to move the ball with quick and ACCURATE passes and be smart enough to make passes/runs to space to get any shots on goal.
I'm seriously concerned that FC can find 13 field players for each team with enough speed to be competitive. They currently don't have a team that I am familiar with enough team speed to compete.
Bottom line either both clubs get faster or they will look like cows in a horse race!
