Is 1000% really better than just 100%? You have a flair for dramatics. ECNL is a whole new ball game. Clubs, like most things in life, have to evolve with the times or risk being stagnant.
Their recent tryout results would seem to affirm the "quality attracts quality" statement made by another poster.

CU did not send out mass emails like FC. They did not go on the recruiting blitz like garret at FC.

Again, what is wrong with going on a recruiting blitz? The larger the pool to draw on the better the potential for your team to get the best players. Nothing wrong with posting signs about tryouts either.

Interesting, the ECNL teams aspire to be as good as the TA teams at some age groups. U11, U16 come to mind and at U15 that team is better than many of the non-TA teams and has players either of next year's U16 ECNL teams would like to have.

For the record...I'm not. I just have a problem with all the false indignation and criticism of a new venture. Like I said before, everyone wanted ECNL and its clear they wanted because they believed their own club was deserving. With that people are outside looking in, ECNL and the local clubs selected are terrible....sour grapes.

Finally!!! You are actually right about something.. The ECNL teams ARE recruiting. And i just watched three days of the NFL draft. It's called competitive sports. New players are brought in and it is part of the process until the roster freeze date.

Ha ha, if you only knew. One of the teams has been recruiting her for years. And for the record, I'm not against recruiting. I was just pointing out how incorrect your analogy was. Recruiting is not posting public signs. It's going up to the player and parents themselves and asking them to come over. Personally, I think we should have been doing more recruiting in Portland. It's the biggest flaw to the model. And just so you know, she can make either team, without much trouble, and be a starter. In fact, over the years she's been offered by all three clubs in ECNL after a single tryout each time. The funny thing is, a number of the players at the ECNL teams weren't offered spots at her current team and went to those clubs to get playing time. You better hope your dd makes an ECNL team, otherwise it's going to be a sad day for all of you in your family.
