It is too bad that the players got the impression they were through based on a misunderstanding of the tie breaker process. That is why it is good to wait until everything is finalized…

That is NOT the tie breaker rules for the OYSA State Cup. Bend got screwed.

Those are Region IV rules. The Oregon State Cup rules as posted would put Bend through. OYSA is choosing not to follow them.

You are choosing how to interpret them. You do not return to the top until you have reached the bottom. If you go to step A no teams are eliminated. Step B WS takes 1st. Step C Bend is eliminated.

Sorry you feel hard done by, but Bend had 5 goals against, Eastside had 4.

You are not reading the correct rules. Once the three way tie is resolved, you restart the process. Not continue on.

Try again. Bend was 2nd, ET 3rd. End of story. Except in OYSA / TA land :)

The rules on the Oregon State Cup website say you RESTART after the first tie is resolved. Don't miss that step. That puts you at the start with a two way tie.

                That should be head-to-head.

The "restart" is key. In the OYSA rules that looks like Bend should have won the tie breaker over eastside.

In the Rules on the website it also says "Head to Head is not used if more than two teams are tied"

Because that criteria is eliminated on the first run through it is not there on the second either...

You break the three way tie. You have two teams left. You restart the process and because you have two teams you start with head to head.

Isn't that how all tournaments are administered? That's what the state cup rules say any way.

EXACTLY. That is why you RESTART.

You break the three way tie, then you restart to break the two way tie. This is all part of resolving a three way tie. You cannot add a criteria in later steps that has been removed in earlier steps.

You are reading the rules, and interpreting them to your desire...

Of course you can, that's how TA works.

Are you all still talking about b-league here?
Unfortunate there's not a promotion to OPL available from OYSA - now that would be something worth fighting for! Teams would be scrambling just to make sure they didn't get relegated to OYSA!

ha ha, that would certainly up the competition level in Oregon.
