    FC - Best For ECNL

I am the parent of a Westside boy, so I don't have a dog in this fight. But, I know several families with top girls players and this will certainly resonate with them.

With the announcement that the current girls Univ. of Portland Head Coach will also serve as the Director of FC Portland's ECNL team, it makes FC as the clear #1 choice if you are wanting to play ECNL.

    Let's see, the choices are:

    1) Do I want to play for the Head Coach of one of the top girls college programs in the country. A man who is more qualified to prepare young players for collegiate soccer than any other person in the state of Oregon.

    Or

    2) Do I want to play for...who at Crossfire/THUSC. They may have some good coaches, but not anywhere close to the quality of the head guy for FC's ECNL program. That is like comparing a Fiat to a Ferrari.

This is almost an unfair competition. I have to think that the only reason to play at Crossfire/THUSC in ECNL is because you don't make the FC team.

So I don't know ECNL since I have a boy. Will it be a try out basis to make a U15 team or will the current FC U14 just become THE team? Also, will they play OYSA or OPL or?

FC PDX and Smith have tried the national stage at least twice before. They were utter failures. Only someone without memory thinks FC and Smith is the best. FC has a terrible girls program even with all the talent they get from year to year. I don't really care for TA, but he does take girls to a much higher level than FC has in the last decade.

Crossfire United is essentially the B team.

Other than one age this is 100% true. FC is the A team. Hopefully FC can be in a higher division that plays better teams. Is that possible?

LOL!!! You have to love these "I don't have a dog in the fight" but I'll go ahead and post why I think FC Portland is the best choice for ECNL anyway.

Give it a rest. FC Portland is on their own. No resources. They have already filed twice at this.

              What has Garret won? NOTHING!

FC Portland still wanders around blathering about how great Clive was. He has been dead for a decade now. Mike is no Clive. Garret is no Clive. FC keeps living off the fumes of Clive's legacy.

Give it a rest. FC is the clear underdog here.

Keep up the amusing posts though. LOL!

Having experienced both clubs & both great experiences but for different reasons, I would hands down go the way of Crossfire United.

The politics at FC make for some interesting outcomes for players. The other option has allowed for a more fair playing field, you get what you earn. Your parents connections don't hold the clout they would at FC.

having experienced both GS & TA, TA is by far the better choice. Just remember what reality is & what perception is are two very different things.

That's interesting. If FC has failed twice at this, and now we are WAY more diluted than before, it's highly likely we see 2 failures. Truthfully it makes sense! OPL folds Thorns go big. 3 years trust it!

This is a desperate post FC person.

Everyone knows broke FC Portland doesn't stand a chance beyond year one because they won't get the players and will not have the money. No one wants to play for FC for rediculous over cost.

                      Garrett has own nothing?

He was the Head Coach of the 2005 team which won the D1 collegiate National Championship and has taken teams in the D1 collegiate national playoffs Quarterfinals (that's top 8 for you knuckle-draggers).

You have an interesting definition of nothing. Using your line of thinking as a reference, the Crossfire/THUSC coaches are what...parent rec coaches?

                      Better try again, slappy.

I can't think of a single decent coach on the THUSC/crossfire side.

Maybe, but every one of them is still better than the BEST Timbers Alliance club coach.
