I am the parent of a Westside boy, so I don't have a dog in this fight. But, I know several families with top girls players and this will certainly resonate with them.
With the announcement that the current girls Univ. of Portland Head Coach will also serve as the Director of FC Portland's ECNL team, it makes FC as the clear #1 choice if you are wanting to play ECNL.
Let's see, the choices are:
1) Do I want to play for the Head Coach of one of the top girls college programs in the country. A man who is more qualified to prepare young players for collegiate soccer than any other person in the state of Oregon.
Or
2) Do I want to play for...who at Crossfire/THUSC. They may have some good coaches, but not anywhere close to the quality of the head guy for FC's ECNL program. That is like comparing a Fiat to a Ferrari.
This is almost an unfair competition. I have to think that the only reason to play at Crossfire/THUSC in ECNL is because you don't make the FC team.
