    State Cup Winning Teams

how much does it mean to be the state cup winning team? Would you consider moving your child to that team if it's not your team? (this is not a discussion of OYSA vs OPL) If you would move your child how far is to far to be a part of a winning team?

It means that the team won which is a nice feather in the cap and something players should be proud of. It's an accomplishment. The team gets to go to regionals but beyond that it doesn't mean much. Regionals were mostly expensive but it is a good show. Team success is nice and more coaches will come watch highly successful teams but at the end of the day, it's whether the individual can play. More importantly, make sure the playing experience is positive and fun or it's not worth it.

Doesn't mean much in a state where the state cup includes just the same teams you played in league. In states where 3 or 4 different leagues feed into the same state cup (ie. SoCal), it's a much bigger accomplishment. For Oregon, this year, the state champions are really the winners of the fall OPL league as that was the only time all of the teams played one another.

"how much does it mean to be the state cup winning team?"
--in these two watered-down state cups, not very much.

"Would you consider moving your child to that team if it's not your team?"
--losing state cup would certainly not be a reason to switch clubs

--define winning team, winning state cup shouldn't be the only draw, unless you're a
            delusional parent.

I there's ting to note however how many of the winners of OPL fall league are headed to OYSA state cup...the only teams of note that remained OPL were a few girls teams.

Might want to look again. Of the 8 NPL winners from fall, only 2 are in OYSA state cup, BU11 and BU12. All of the rest are either in OPL state cup (BU13, BU14, GU12, GU14) or Washington State Cup (GU11, GU13). Not looking real strong for the OYSA state cup...

You say state cup is watered down.....and it doesn't mean anything to win it, well then if you don't win it...it sure means your club/team isn't very good! So, I would suggest you def switch teams/clubs if your team does not win the "watered" down state cup.

So then look at the State cup brackets let's take BU14 for example. OPL has only four teams, only one was in real NPL action in the fall. OYSA has two brackets each one larger than OPL's single bracket, and all the teams except for Hood River are there. A league or a Statecup is not made competitive by the presence of one team. It is made competitive by having many teams at a high level all playing each other.

Doesn't matter. State cups aren't meant to be "competitive". They are for crowning the best in the entire state. For Oregon the only time the entire state played together was last fall hence fall league what's the real state cup.

Says the guy who's sons team obviously won the fall league. Coming out this strong in an oppinion that bennefits his train of thought only, is kind of a chump move in my book.

Says the guy who's son's team now has the chance to call themselves "state champs" even though there aren't any good teams in their little rec tourney.

Can't attack the facts so you have to attack the person. Feel better now? Now that's pathetic...
