It's difficult to understand until you've gone through the process once. As an example, my youngest is a G01. When she was U10, there were 3 teams in the area that won all the tourneys, won almost every game, basically dominated the rest of the teams. Fast forward just 3 years and 2 of those teams no longer exist at all. The third still exists in name but has none of the same girls on it and isn't particularly competitive. About 40% of the girls that were on those 3 teams at U10 no longer play top-level soccer. The other 60% still do but have moved to different teams that are all in the top 5 in Oregon/WA. I'm sure that if someone had told the parents of all these girls at U10 that this would happen, most wouldn't have believed it. But it did, and it continues to happen with each new age group as they work through the system.

The coaches themselves tell the parents to enjoy it now, let their kids develop and and have fun - all while finding a little success on the field too. Why put it down all the time? Maybe the run ends at U12? U13? U14?....who cares. Focus on today and you will enjoy soccer more.

ok, tell your friends, family and co-workers that you are chatting in an anonymous chat room with a bunch of strangers about your 10 year old daughter playing soccer.
Go on, do it.
Report back on the response you get. Even better, put it on youtube.

And this thread is about the soccer they play, coaches, parents, and team, not about the girls themselves.
