But if you join them now when do you leave to go to Portland FC or another big club? Does it make more sense to just go straight to Portland clubs? At what age do you see the biggest drop off in soccer? At what ages is it harder to get on good teams excluding the exceptional player?

Never tough for the top players to find a home. Things build unit about u15 for girls then there will be a serious drop off in numbers everywhere. Stay local while you have an opportunity like it seems there is with this group, take advantage of the advanced training opportunities with the id2/ODP/academy programs when you can then look to make the jump around u15 or so depending on the dynamics of your team and things start to change (coaches move on, goals of the group change, or no longer are in line with your expectations, or team is no longer competing).

I agree my dd made the move at u15 to THUSC but ended up back here for her last season after some injuries and really enjoyed her final season she is now off at WSU very expensive but a e would not have changed a thing we had some great soccer weekends. One thing to remember is that at U15 Oregon goes to tryouts in the fall so a little planning and communication with coaches ahead of time is required no big deal though.

Perfect except the attrition part you may only be half right they have struggled with their older teams numbers where pacific has not, probably mostly because at that point 99% of kids and parents know that soccer is going to be something they do for fun and not for a living. So why not play where it won't cost you a ton and volunteer coaches are okay no matter what their experience as long as it's fun and their friends are with them. The others that have potential to play beyond club move on to THUSC or FCP for girls or west side timbers for boys. This age it happens to be pretty even as far as player numbers ***C may have a few more they have a fourth team but going to be very tough to catch up with this PFC team, can't beat them join them if your good enough the Couv needs everyone to compete with the big boys.

That's been my experience anyway. Every age group is a little different because you have to factor in what coaches bring to the equation. Experience, dedication, organization, goals, and time commitment are all things to consider when looking for a coach not to mention having the freedom to run their program.

97s for sure. Word is a few left for ecnl/academy but the plan was to still have a red team with the remaining players. Coach and doc messed that up by making empty promises and the remaining players finally threw in the towel and moved across the river---to non-ecnl teams, that is.

Hate to lump all Timbers in with this guy but this is why your so hated. Typical timber can't just be happy with "this team has struggled" or "has had issues" have to get your little dig on about another club.

Not true! Just stating fact. Timbers 97 reds are whole different ball game than Pacific 97. Not true at all ages, Pacific has some very competitive teams. I would take Pacific over Timbers in most cases. This is just not one of them.

Sorry - didn't want to parse through 50 pages. What is this team doing next? Are they playing Mt. Hood or done with summer tournaments? Does anyone know if the coaches are pretty fair during tryouts or are they really loyal to the current players?
