Dumbest post ever - you essentially just said that learning how to play as a team is not part of player development. Wouldn't you say that "team" players have a better chance to make an impact on a "team"...LOL, must be a Timber Troll. TTs unite to bash 10 year olds!

Which tournaments would you suggest they play in before you give them any credit? Clash at the Border? - bwahahahahahahahahaha. Ok, seriously now, which ones?

Have you seen the team. They practice individual skills all the time. I have seen Premier teams that require players do that on their own and spend the whole practice on team concepts, not individual footwork. You have no clue what you are talking about.

Start with Rainer Challenge in Puyallup in early June. Then go to Crossfire Challenge in Redmond in July, followed by Mustang in Danville in August. Just get out of your bracket in the top flight at any one of those tournaments and you'll start to get some credit. Winning any Oregon tournament means nothing. There are no top level Oregon tournaments.

This is not a tiki-taka team. Like most winning teams at this age they play very direct and rely on speed to win the 50-50 balls. I've seen it before many many times. This team will be lucky to survive U11 intact. They won't win their fall league and the grumbling will start. The players will start to leave (nobody good every goes TO Pacific FC from somewhere else). U12 will be their last hurrah and then they will be done.

Heck, I'd give them credit just for entering one of these tournaments. One of the biggest complaints I have against those touting this team on this board is that it seemed like the coaches went out of their way to AVOID playing anybody good (does the Kick in the Grass) ring any bells? And then this board would be filled with tales of how dominant this team was because they ran up the score on rec teams.

Enter a tournament where you have to actually play the best. Either you get your butts kicked (most likely scenario) and the misguided parents learn some humility, or you do well (unlikely) and the misguided parents have something besides hot air to back up their touts.

Lets see what the coaches do. Tryouts are over and they should be putting the team plan together for summer tournaments.

It said individual skills. tiki-taka would be a team thing, not an individual thing. And I thought all the good players from Salmon Creek came over. Probably only two girls but still some players do flock to better teams.

***? Did you just say they play very direct and rely on speed to win 50-50 balls? Your ignorance is showing as you have never watched them play and are commenting on this forum out of pure spite. Ask any of the coaches in the OPL that have played this team about their "style" and see what you get for an answer.

I will step into this conversation....actually the previous poster is correct in saying that most coaches are hurting development by focusing on over passing the ball.

Just to let you know - possession isn't just passing the ball, the most important type of possession is when your DD is able to keep the ball to herself. Right now at U10 1v1's are waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more important than having your DD pass the ball every time. You DD should be taught when to dribble and when to pass - both are possession.

If your DD is not being taught this then you will find them far behind in 12 months.

go to Crossfire Challenge and get out of bracket then come back on here.

it's not a super elite tournament like Mustang but pretty close. My DD's team got out of bracket at U11 and U12.

Good luck...let us know if you've put that on your schedule....

maybe exchange it for the Tigard Balloon Festival Tournament?

Man the people on this board are stupid. This team has been SHREDDED apart because the have a trainer that does nothing but teach individual possession skills. Would you so-called "experts" make up your mind already?

Assume it is just SC trolls, a little bitter
because nobody came to their try-outs. Best to just ignore them.
