so much fun
This is really enjoyable. The OYSA aka Timbers OYSA, have created their own problem or have they?
Fall league is where the money is. More teams at each age group and you don't need lights. Winter is where the proof is. In the fall, it is all about player development and parents will buy that all day long. Winter U-15 and up is all about results. If your not on an A team at U15 stay home and build ginger bread houses or something because you are wasting time and money.
The Timbers model seems to be heading in a direction that will be strong for fall boys, strong for fall girls, combined with RTC and ODP. AT U-15 they will either move to the academy or play in a very poor winter league. At U-15 they will basically be discarded. Once at U15 it is just going to be TA Clubs, EST, WST, WT, CT, BT, RT. The other clubs going to OYSA are just terrible at U15, not that they are any good at U-14 and below. Player will be basically stuck in that league. OYSA does have the far west regional league, it to is a clunker after U15. Basically the OYSA is going to be a U-14 and below league.
My guess is the OPL will fail to a large degree. But the clubs that stay US Club will do fine. First on the girls side and the boys to follow. Main reason is they will develop players first at the younger ages and win at the older age groups. They will look to put their players into college and not the DA at U15. The US Club teams as a collective group have extremely low operating costs with really just one league administrator. They will join a more regional league and focus on some larger college show case tournament.
My guess would also be US Clubs teams will see a large influx of disenchanted OYSA players not invited to the DA or whatever girls program the OYSA Timbers wave out there.
A secondary affect of the Timbers/OYSA (and we are already seeming some of it) it loss of love for the Timbers overall. People are saying Go Timbers MLS, they are not seeing the Timbers as in whole as a great organization but just pieces are good and some pieces are bad.
Only time will tell but the Timbers OYSA's are nervous as you can by all post.

It's so sad when an OPL supporter try's to tell us that the remaining OPL clubs have DOC's who could hire and RETAIN the coaches to handle the influx of players from the OYSA teams. Yep that's the best JOKE of the whole discussion. Just ask Tom how good he is at keeping quality coaches. And those geniuses over at FCP they do a great job of keeping their better coaches too. Annnn down 217 at OR Crossfire where are they going to get the money while paying two six figure salaries?

I forgot...head slap!

The clubs referenced above Crossfire, THUSC and FC Portland have done a great job putting players into college and have many long time coaches.
OYSA is afraid. They know there is going to be a lot of white vs red this winter. Coupled with the fact that the DA teams are struggling. The Timbers best first job is MLS, and they should have kept it that way.

What is the 'battle' for?
Ego.
Tiny little men that are lazy and self proclaimed coaches who when you dig a little deeper are actually full time con-artists that somehow have developed huge egos off the backs of parents who fork over club fees.
Who gives a crap what league(s) kiddies play in Oregon? NOBODY!
That isn't the issue or even the topic.
It's about getting one's way.
Without oversight, without accountability, without needing permission.
Just being able to do things the way 'they' want.
Not because they 'know' better than the rest, the don't...they only know what 'they' want.
OYSA minions (Smith/Madding) follow the great and powerful OZ (aka: GW).
OPL DOC follow their paycheck.
Misguided fools with enormous/peculiar salaries leading the sheep to slaughter.
Yes, indeed Thanks are in Order to those that pay the bills.

this thread only demonstrate the stupidity of this group's participants. here, we are in the finals of the Western Conference and we only have pedestrian comments about whether to join one youth organizations, whether the tempersture pay for uniforms for their undeserving DDS, making comments about a team like onyx that is only average by elite standards, and way too much analysis of high School girls soccer. in contrast, there are no comments at all about the Timbers. Does this not bother anyone else ? it would appear that our parents would rather talk about a u9 or u10 soccer team. do you think the rest of the world talks about their you 9 or u10 soccer teams the way this group of parents do so. so boring and irrelevant.
