Are you still whining about the CFC Galacticos team that finished 3rd in U13 Premier last fall and didn't get promoted to NPL??? Come on. They finished 3rd, not 2nd, not 1st. Third!!!. That means they don't get promoted. Where's the politics in that?

Let's not rehash this again. Everyone knows they are one of the best teams in the state at their age group. It's time to move on.

No rehashing, no whining, but the comment has been made over and over that teams in the premier division are not competitive with teams in the NPL division. This case illustrates that often the tops of each division are closer to each other than the top and bottom of any one division.

You are talking about one team. Overall, this is simply not the case. If you go back and research the teams which were promoted from one division to the next and how they finished the following year you would see this. Yes, there are exceptions but that is why they are called "exceptions".

Exceptions are also why we shouldn't make broad generalizations about "all Portland teams being more competitive than non-Portland teams" or the ilk. If you consider OPL's arguments over the years it is built on these generalizations that simply don't stand up to any kind of thorough examination. This has all contributed to the situation we are in today. Almost all non-Portland teams have gone to OYSA, additionally a Vast majority of strong boys programs from Portland have left OPL. That leaves OPL struggling for legitimacy with the exceptions and the few clubs who operate based in strong girls programs.

You're basing your argument on a mistaken assumption.
Teams aren't going to OYSA because it's better.
Teams are going to OYSA because when the Timbers took it over they took all their TA teams and put them in OYSA.
OYSA might end up being better after everything settles out, but what's happening now is not because OYSA is better than OPL.
And I really doubt that most parents even know whether the club they are with is in USYSA or USCLUB so I don't think that's a factor.

And I should believe you are impartial because?...so if we say we don't know which teams will go which direction (this cuts both ways) then any conversation about competitiveness comes off the table. So how so we compare the two organizations?

For me, transparency is important, I understand as a business person that sometimes different levels of transparency are necessary, but I want an organization that at least acknowledges being transparent as something positive.

I want an organization that doesn't arbitrarily shun parts of the state or different groups. Today's rec teams are tomorrow's competitive teams and the whole soccer system at to work together.

I also want a consistent path to super-regional competition. Not being told all in the course of one hear, "if you win the league you go to US Club regionals, it is better than USYS" then later "if you win the league, you can skip regionals and go straight to nationals" then later " it is not a out post season play it is about have regional league competition". To cut to the bottom line all of OPL's pronouncements have come across as a used car dealer shucking and diving to keep the sale alive. This has zero integrity.

Just those three point a pretty clear direction, but then you also have the whole conversation about competitiveness.

Sorry but OYSA wins hands down, no contest

Your opinion, is worth squat. You couldn't possibly know which league "wins hands down" You and everyone else will just have to wait to see how this plays out. It could go both ways. Besides my DD plays for OPL and she is more talented than any player out there.

I'm sorry I forgot you don't read very well. The concept in my post is the paragraphs reflect a consistent thought. What I have shared is the values I expect from an organization. If you set aside all competitive concerns, because you said "no one can know how that plays out". Then I have other expectations of an organization. Looking at these there is a clear separation between OYSA and OPL. OYSA meets these expectations OPL does not. Let me say that again so you have more time to process it. Setting all soccer measures aside I would not have my son participate with OPL because of their failure to meet these three standards.

Now you add the soccer criteria back in and OYSA wins hands down.

Again, you are future telling. OYSA/TIMBERS is just starting, you don't have any kind of track record. So you are talking and that is all you are doing, talking.

Wake up! OYSA has been around for decades...It is easy to judge that there transparency is greater than that of OPL both looking at their long history, or looking at the last several months.

It is easy to see OPL's attitude that everyone outside of PDX is lesser. It has been well documented both on this site and other places...

As far as OPL's problems putting together a State Cup those are well documented as well.

It seems you have bought the latest line of garbage that "OYSA/Timbers" is new so wait until you see how it works to make a decision. This is a typical OPL line, and it is only based in the goal of you waiting to decide long enough that you are then forced to stay with OPL.

I REALLY SUGGEST YOU GET SOME HELP WITH LITERACY...MY POSTS WERE EXPLAINING WHAT I HAD BASED MY DECISION ON AND YOU RESPOND I AM FUTURE TELLING, NO, I AM BEING HONEST, YOU OUGHT TO TRY IT...WON'T LEARN THAT FROM OPL...

Untrue. Nobody in the OPL has any issue with people deciding to live in Bend, or Medford, or Grant's Pass, or wherever. That's great that you choose to live there. If you can put together a top-level league down there, more power to you. Maybe then the Portland clubs would be whining about not getting enough home games. If you can't, and want to play the top teams from Portland, great. But don't expect Portlanders to think it's a great idea to travel to your town just because you live there.
