      Be the squeaky wheel.

It will hurt all the kids if there isn't some sort of tarty that allows all the best teams to continue to play each other.
Is rather travel to Seattle or NorCal to play great competition then to play the TA teams. If your dd is U15 and above those TA teams are weak.

OYSA has the better opportunity and always has. All it took was one of them to jump ship, organize and recruit the rest that were left out the first go around.

Opps. Betcha didnt see that one coming.
Please. If your are not TA, you are not getting any special treatment from the get-go. It will all be TA biased. You could crush all of their B teams and still get placed below them. And they will be happy to take your money at a later time. Just do what you think is best for your team. Do not listen to the TA zombies.

Knowing Oregon, it will all change again in two years anyway.

Typical OPL come back. "Dont scare me" "Go Away"

It is the OPL that is going away. They will be a shell of themselves by next year. What irks me the most is when the demise takes place, how the funds could have originally been designed to help soccer in this state. Not that the organizations that they have designated to receive the funds arent worthy, but so is the state of the game in our state.

Please explain to all of us how exactly this latest change, driven by GW, improves anything in this state? How is the OPL holding back your club, your team, your DK? The answer is that the OPL is not hindering you in any way. All it is is a league that schedule games for you. And that's all that OYSA is too. It's not rocket science. The OYSA league can not, and will not, be any better than the OPL is today. In fact, with GW's guidance, it will likely be worse.

The real problem here is that the TA clubs can't develop players and can't compete so they have to run away and create their own league / state cup so they can call themselves "champions" of something.

And that's assuming that the OYSA league actually happens, and then survives if it does happen.

Exactly. GW and the Timbers extorted $60,000 from the OPL last year and got nothing for it. When the OPL said no this year, GW flipped out and went the OYSA route.

The Timbers made no effort to include non-TA clubs. The clubs coming will be joining the swarm of red and white soon.

OYSA will look just like a rec league with everyone wearing the red and white. They should use reversible shirts to save everyone money.

Just have both teams wear the same colors. With the low level of skill, you won't be able to tell the the difference anyways.

And OYSA will be a shell from the start. I guess it's really just a "shell" game then.

OYSA and the Timbers know that they can't be successful without the OPL clubs. The OPL clubs know this too. It's all just a matter of being patient and negotiating the best deal for the OPL clubs to join OYSA. The OPL DoCs aren't stupid. All of the clubs will be together by next fall and the OPL DoCs will have at least as much control as they have now.

Depends on how you define Success. If it means they have more teams playing in their league, Id say they will win. If you mean the most/best competition, both are losers. Without everyone, nothing is complete.

The OPL Doc's were offered complete control of it all a couple years ago, and turned it down. USYSA/OYSA have set rules. Those rules and policies are not negotiable. If the rest of the OPC think their going to share in the profits in the OYSA/Timbers league, I wouldnt hold your breath on that. Once GW offered them to come over and they declined, that was the only offer they were going to get. Now it's come and play in "OUR" league or we will gut you one team/one club at a time.

This was never the case. The OYSA leadership was completely incompetent. The OPL gave them numerous chances for the leagues to come back together. Unfortunately the OYSA was unable or unwilling to improve.

Your statement about gutting clubs is exactly the issue. GW is trying to run non-TA clubs out of business.

You sound like a OPL insider (paid employee) with an axe to grind as you see your job withering. OPL never gave or offered OYSA anything...but grief and a chance to just "go away" (which was never going to happen).

OYSA offered the OPL the entire state plate...take it all, lets just play under one roof and the all too greedy DOC's turned it down. I read the board minutes all to many times when they had discussions. Now if youd like to share some written documentation to the contrary, Im sure we'd all like to read it from the OPL side.

............and GW should gut those non-conforming clubs. There are way too many clubs in our lil town. We need 3 maybe 4 at the most, premier level clubs if we ever want to make a name for ourselves and compete on a national level. We have the numbers, they are just spread out too far to be effective.

This is a flat lie. There were a lot of people in those meetings with the OYSA. It was clear to everyone there that the OYSA was incompetent and unwilling to work with the OPL.

You want 3 maybe 4 clubs? You have them in the OYSA. Have fun with it. You have 3 maybe 4 okay clubs to play each other over and over again. There is no need to bring the two leagues together!

You people have no idea what you are talking about. A league of 3 maybe 4 clubs is not good competition and will not help develop soccer. If you want to improve soccer, have clubs like WST, ET, CFC, and other clubs actually start to focus on developing players and stop worrying about wins/losses at early ages. THAT will improve soccer. NOT playing the same 3 teams every weekend.

Hmmmm. Like I said, an insider looking to loose their job, so why not start and spread more rumors before your gone.

When OYSA comes knocking on your door and wants to talk, does not mean that the OPL made offers. Maybe counter offers, but NEVER did the OPL come calling asking to rejoin.

Makes no difference now. The OPL had their chance with the OYSA staff and now with the Timbers staff...that stiff upper lip got ya nowhere in a short 5 years, except maybe the demise of your league and ultimately your club.

Hows that saying go ?? You can lead a horse to water..........but if he doesn't drink it, leave him there to die from dehydration.

You and I can argue about what ever makes you feeling better every morning, I have nothing to loose here.

The OPL is going by the wayside and just about everyone (except maybe you) can see it. Maybe not today, maybe not even by spring, but next year what ever is left will have no purpose (not like it did anyways) and will be nothing more then a watered down rec league. Unless NIKE is willing to step and under-right their league and make it FREE to play in, that's about the only thing that could hold some over.

Kinda smarts now that the shoe is on the other foot kick you in the butt huh ?
