Alliance teams don't cut a check to the Timbers

Almost all MLS teams do this or will be soon...
the first of which was Colorado Rush....they were the Pioneers....
the landscape in soccer is changing.....

State boundaries are going away.....the boundaries are going to be determined by MLS team/areas.

the pipe dream days of winning state cup and going to regionals is all but going dead....

I believe it is a good change....
just make sure your child is part of a plan that has them focusing on League play and showcase tournaments because that is where soccer is.....

and stay away from clubs that look for results at u9-u15.....those clubs will be going away with the new standards that will be coming out. The European Model is here and it isn't going anywhere.

The final goal....although a long term goal is to have the MLS Team be profitable enough to fund the Academies.....it's coming.....this is the slow change from pay to play to playing for very cheap to nothing......instead of fight it help it out.

          "Entire?" LOL

Look at the situation another way...very likely that GW will be terminated from Timbers organization. What will he do? In the meantime he has to ensure that he has a paycheck coming in from elsewhere to justify his value (puke) to the MLS and youth soccer.

Do you know what you are even talking about.

            1. Colorado RUSH is not an MLS club. They are a soccer club.

            2. Colorado RUSH does not run Colorado State Youth Soccer Association. They are a memeber and compete in CSYSA

            3. In the European Model, the professional teams subsidize the youth programs

            4. That is fine that the long term growth of MLS has a long term plan to fund the academies. In Oregon our youth soccer is funding the Timbers thanks to GW. He is laughing all the way to the bank on this one.

The soccer landscape is changing. I gurantee you that no where else in the country is the state soccer association paying into the professional soccer team.

need I say more....you either are not soccer savvy or you're playing dumb....Manchester United and Manchester City have youth programs that they run....and they run both boys and girls....US Soccer is copying the Euro Model...it is coming

These countries go as far as kids that play within their Professional Club on the youth side don't even have to pay to play....but in these countries teams are making billions of dollars which is how they can pay....MLS teams are not losing money but can't quite afford to pay for their youth programs YET....it is coming.....

the person that original posted that Alliance Clubs DO NOT cut a check to the Timbers is correct...I asked this question earlier to a Board Member and they confirmed it...

Alliance Clubs DO NOT cut a check to PTFC.

Yes, the model is the professional team subsidizes the kid's play.

                        That is my point.

Name ONE model where the kids pay the and subsidizes the professional club. That is the model that we have with Oregon.

That is great that the rest of the US is copying the Euro Model. Only in Oregon it is different than every where else because we are paying even more to play because every OYSA player is putting a few bucks back into MP and GW pocket.

Then your board lied to you. I can tell you as an Eastside parent that all the alliance clubs do pay the Timbers. I don't mind a bit because I'm happy at our club but let's not lie and say they don't. What I'm not happy about is that any club that wants to be an alliance club can be.

I'm on the board of another Timbers Alliance club and we do not pay the Timbers a fee and there cannot be another TA club within a specified distance of ours (50ish miles). Perhaps your board or DOC did not negotiate these but ours did.

How are Eastside, Westside and Vancouver in existence then?

You guys are really not that stupid are you?

Westside, Eastside, and Vancouver are not that far apart.

How much of your OYSA card fees do you think go to the Timbers.

The pretty uniforms that you get that have a Timber's patch. How much do you think goes to the Timbers per kit.

The "Timbers" camp that are run by your club and attended by your kids, how much revenue do you think the Timbers get?

The free advertising that you give to the Timbers, how much do you think that is worth?

Come one people, do you think the GW is doing this because he is concerned about youth soccer in Oregon. He is doing this to show MP how he can make MP money. It is at your kid's expense.
