My husband counted 25 kids one of the days. So did they take everyone?

Of course they took everyone. They want the money. The true list comes out when they form the teams to go to the various tournaments.

There are no cuts in the RTCs

The coaches are looking for kids who they think are ready for the training environment at that age group. Some kids mature a little later than others. Some kids are more focused on soccer than other sports. Some kids are really there because their parents want to think they are the best. The real cuts (tryouts) come after the Eugene RTC tournament. That's when 75% of the kids in each age group are dropped. Until then, the RTCs are just kids having fun, learning and balancing training time out with those spent in games and tournaments. Kudos to the Timbers organization for making all of this possible for both girls and boys. Now, parents you can get back to your petty squabbling.

One of the coaches said that a total of 34 girls showed up between the 3 days. He sounds impressed as last season the younger 2 ages were combined for the same number of girls. Either way, I'm happy for my DD. Several new players, some better some worse. Another perspective of soccer. We'll make our evaluation at the end of the season as to whether we continue on or not. As for now, this is an exciting opportunity.

Oh, but that's not how you evaluate it. You wait to see who is coaching, then call everyone you know to ask about them and then, even if you daughter has never had that coach, you form an opinion about how your daughter will do with that coach. It's not about results, it's about third party opinions.
