It won't matter what you think of any of these clubs individually, as a group they will be dominant.
    Dominate who?

Stood within 10' of a TA coach as he was giving a pep talk to a bunch of girls about how he was going to hold tryouts to take a girls team to Surf. How did that workout?

Like it or not, TA teams will dominate on girls side within a couple of years. It's already starting at the younger ages and fewer & fewer good players will leave for non-TA clubs. I heard CFC is also going Timbers and it sounds like maybe more clubs too. Anyone else?

Eastside, Washington, Tualatin-Sherwood, and Eugene are always dominate at the younger ages. Nothing new there. Problem is as the girls get older the parents realize the coaching sucks and their kids aren't developing. The same will continue as eastside and westside will never care about the girls. Washington will do fine. Eugene is just too small and the Sherwood girls all leave by U15.

Themselves in their own special league playing themselves wearing their red and whites every weekend. They will look just like the local rec programs. Maybe they will mix up their names (since they are all the same) and start calling themselves Pink Ponies and Purple Tigers or Rockin' Unicorns.

Have fun with that and enjoy your regrets in a few years.

Timbers are Adidas so yes you do have to become an Adidas club. I have talked to the board at WST. My dd played there last year. And while the person I spoke with tried to dodge my question repeatedly I did finally get a bit of an answer. Yes the TA clubs pay the timbers for the use of the name.

Ask yourself this, why would a long time WST coach who has one very successful son currently at WST and one older son who plays for the Whitecaps now pull his daughter out of WST and move her to THUSC if the TA teams were the future of girls soccer?

Here we go again. THUSC beating their chest. Kind of funny everything comes back to thusc. Your DOC is the least respected and his ethics can be questioned. I know the WST board members and asked the questions specifically. There is no money being paid for the name, there is no money being exchanged with the timbers. as to the specific player in question leave her out of the public forum, this is a nice family and much more went into it then what you said. what about the thusc girls that leave thusc to join wst and other clubs, or the boys you can't seem to keep?. It is really sad how you thusc defenders have revert this type of tactic. every post on this forum comes back to thusc. they must have paid staff to monitor this forum. if you were an upstanding club and did the right things you would be subject to such ridicule.

Try asking your TA club board for a copy of the Timbers Alliance agreement they signed. Don't hold your breath waiting for a copy. There are too many things in that document that the club boards don't want their general membership to know about... Lots of obligations and not very many benefits.

The TA is new. Soon the TA will be making TA all-star teams. Those teams will dominate, have good coaching and keep the good players from leaving TA. Stars on lesser TA teams can be funneled to the strongest TA team at that age.etc. There will simply be more opportunities for elite players in the TA clubs than there was in the past. Thusc, etc will remain strong girls clubs but their domination at the older age groups will diminish more and more. If it ends up diminishing enough, the top Thusc players will start leaving for a TA team. However, the flip side is also true: if Thusc, FC Pdx, Crossfire LO, and others joined together to make their own "mega-club alliance", then they could field stronger teams as well. It could be like all of OR has two good Seattle area clubs.

I'm sentimental and old fashioned. I prefer having all the little clubs who mostly cannot compete out of state. The sea of red kind of gives me the creeps but it will make for stronger teams & more opportunities for top players. Plus, the change is coming whether I like it or not...

Who's bashing who? You're going after Tom for no good reason. I doubt you have ever met the guy and probably couldn't even pick him out of a crowed. Yet you spew this stupidity. How does that make you any better than what you're whining about? Failed logic and stupidity.

The TA changes nothing unless they are forced to merge at some point. Until then, these alliance teams will just be second rate to THUSC girls instead of third and fourth rate.

Opl isn't new and its broken and completely going down.

Alliance is new and its not beneficial yet.

Think real hard what will happen in the coming years.

If you for one second think opl clubs will work together and create a 3 team league.....

You are delusional. Can't wait seeing you clubs having to follow Tom atencio around the west coast to play teams that would be average in the nw.

I love how you have to try and compare 5 different clubs to 1 club. Lets be real here the TA clubs are all separate. If you compared each one individually to THUSC, FC or OSSA they'd lose every time. Compare the Nike clubs to the Adidas clubs and Nike would kill on the girls side.

Onyx parents, spending all of their time on here. Tom must make you sign a commitment letter when joining.
