Like it or not, TA teams will dominate on girls side within a couple of years. It's already starting at the younger ages and fewer & fewer good players will leave for non-TA clubs. I heard CFC is also going Timbers and it sounds like maybe more clubs too. Anyone else?

Have fun with that and enjoy your regrets in a few years.

Ask yourself this, why would a long time WST coach who has one very successful son currently at WST and one older son who plays for the Whitecaps now pull his daughter out of WST and move her to THUSC if the TA teams were the future of girls soccer?

The TA is new. Soon the TA will be making TA all-star teams. Those teams will dominate, have good coaching and keep the good players from leaving TA. Stars on lesser TA teams can be funneled to the strongest TA team at that age.etc. There will simply be more opportunities for elite players in the TA clubs than there was in the past. Thusc, etc will remain strong girls clubs but their domination at the older age groups will diminish more and more. If it ends up diminishing enough, the top Thusc players will start leaving for a TA team. However, the flip side is also true: if Thusc, FC Pdx, Crossfire LO, and others joined together to make their own "mega-club alliance", then they could field stronger teams as well. It could be like all of OR has two good Seattle area clubs.
I'm sentimental and old fashioned. I prefer having all the little clubs who mostly cannot compete out of state. The sea of red kind of gives me the creeps but it will make for stronger teams & more opportunities for top players. Plus, the change is coming whether I like it or not...

I know the WST board members and asked the questions specifically. There is no money being paid for the name, there is no money being exchanged with the timbers. as to the specific player in question leave her out of the public forum, this is a nice family and much more went into it then what you said. what about the thusc girls that leave thusc to join wst and other clubs, or the boys you can't seem to keep?. It is really sad how you thusc defenders have revert this type of tactic. every post on this forum comes back to thusc. they must have paid staff to monitor this forum. if you were an upstanding club and did the right things you would be subject to such ridicule.
The TA changes nothing unless they are forced to merge at some point. Until then, these alliance teams will just be second rate to THUSC girls instead of third and fourth rate.

Opl isn't new and its broken and completely going down.
Alliance is new and its not beneficial yet.
Think real hard what will happen in the coming years.
If you for one second think opl clubs will work together and create a 3 team league.....
You are delusional. Can't wait seeing you clubs having to follow Tom atencio around the west coast to play teams that would be average in the nw.
