(Review) Jesuit 1 Clackamas 0.

Credit to Clackamas High for a well thought out game plan that almost got them into the next round. Many times they put 8-9 players back behind the ball and were content to try and weather the storm. They almost got one in the last couple of minutes but a huge save by the Jesuit goalie turned them away.

Not impressive- the refereeing. Many whistles which both teams assumed the ball was theirs (and were then confused when it went the other way). In one instance a Jesuit player was badly undercut and fell head first to the turf- it was only the frantic signalling by the AR that even stopped play.

Jesuit with many more opportunities but found a way to get the one that counts. Strong defending by the two center defenders down the stretch preserved the win.

Bad refereeing. So, who is surprised? (Note: not a parent of either school, just a parent who is sick and tired of mediocre refereeing).

Bad Parents

I was at a game today (boys) where two players on the field were conversing in Spanish. Sadly a parent felt the need to yell "Speak English" to the players involved. To their credit they went on with the game w/o a nasty reaction. So sad to see such heinous behavior from the adults.

Westview at West Salem (Westview believes in themselves now.. 1-0 Westview)

Grant at Sunset (Close as close can be.. 1-1 and then PKs.. I pick Grant)

Sheldon at Tualatin (Sheldon hasn't played anyone nearly as good as Tualatin coming down the stretch.. 2-0 Tualatin)

Lincoln at Jesuit (Lincoln hangs tough for a half but Jesuit eventually too strong late.. Jesuit 2-0)

Sheldon at Tualatin (Sheldon hasn't played anyone nearly as good as Tualatin coming down the stretch.. 2-0 Tualatin)

Lincoln at Jesuit (Lincoln hangs tough for a half but Jesuit eventually too strong late.. Jesuit 2-0)

Sheldon played grant and Lincoln. They have played tough teams. Tualatin is very good but not steady. Sheldon can win this game although odds are with Tual.

Yes, their entire varsity roster is club players. They might have 1-2 seniors that stopped playing club soccer in high school but they played through at least u14. Most of their varsity roster is sophomores so they will be good for the next couple years also.

I think there are 6-7 different club teams represented at West and most of them are premier level teams. I'm not sure why you care so much.

no idea about that game, but I knew the Pac conference is pretty weak and that #1 ranking was obviously an error. Tigard overall had a weak schedule but RPI did not accurately reflect that.
