I would not hesitate to see if you can find someone from each club and talk about their experience. If they hesitate to tell you any downfalls than they are probably not being totally honest with you. Every club has their issues. Although coaches are probably very busy getting ready for tryouts you can try you could contact them to see if they are willing to talk to you in advance. If not here are some questions you might want to think about.

What type of player are you and will you fit in? Do you have any friends on a particular team? Yes, sometimes that makes the experience better.

Where do you stand in your current club? That might determine if you will be on a “A” or “B” team at one of those three clubs. Competition in all three of those clubs with regards to those top spots will be fierce. Although not sure yet how OSSA will pan out in the younger U-13/U14 age groups.

How many players will there be on the team?

What is the coaching philosophy of the club / team?

What position(s) do you see your son playing? What is the competition in that position?

Will the club be moving players between teams?

What tournaments are upcoming and what kind of competition do you expect?

Are you in the position to travel and pay for it? For example both FC and OSSA appear to be taking part in WCDA, which requires travel. Both FC and Westside will most likely be traveling to Aurora, Co. All and all, it’s a great experience but it can be $$.

Good luck with your decision and hopefully it will be a good one!
Agreed. Add to this, go to tryouts for more than one club. FC and WST tryouts are pretty close to each other. be honest andt ell your son to let coaches know that he is trying out at another club ( if he will miss a tryout). This way, if you are interested in their club and they are interested in your son, they will make notes. If a coach tells you that you have to decide now before tryouts are done, then have your red flag ready.

          How about Eastside or OSSA?

I wrote the post that you responded to so I wanted to answer the question to the best of muy ability.

I am very familiar with the coaches that will are listed as the U13/U14 coaches for both EST and OSSA. You did not identify which age group your son is, so my gut tells me to go with OSSA for U13, IF your son ends up on Green or Black West. Tracy is young but experienced as a player and has a great friendly disposition. EST for U13 is good too. For solid player/coaching experience, again I have to go with OSSA. Although Mark Evans has coached for EST and WST, and is the dad to Stevie, I think that he still needs assistance from other coaches who have solid playing and coaching experience.

It is a tough call because both clubs' coaches are quality coaches, but there are a couple that can have attitude/ego issues. I'll leave it at that and suggest that you try to get your son out to both clubs.

                  WST.... 100%
Don't go off the wins, go off the ethics of the program. WST will teach your child no life lessons what so ever. I would try another club if I were you. JB is great, but that's it. All the others are really bad coaches, even the DOC! My son hated soccer while he was there and he was on the "A" team. Their coaches do not understand what it takes to be a role model.

The DOC is John Bain. You mean the head coach.

My son has had great coaches and has learned from each of them. Not sure broad sweeping comments work for everyone whatsoever.

                        WSTimbers

Clarify. Cony Konstin is the Head Coach/DOC.

John Bain is the Director of Operations and a team coach.

Two of my sons played for WSMetros aka WSTimbers and they loved their coach who wasn't either listed above. He isn't coaching with WSTimbers today, but I can tell you that it was the best youth experience they had in Soccer, both went on to play college soccer as well.

Don't try to reason with the Thusc coaches and DOC. Each and every May, they come on here and throw out accusations in hopes of swaying people to come to their program from WS.

O.K., He leaves his former team (club hopper), joins WSTimbers 'A' team that team wins the state final game and plays he entire match and hates it.

Suggestion try another sport or get professional psychiatric help.
