What age and team are we talking about?

This years U14G

They had two new girls at the last scrimmage. Might need a couple of more. They are going with three teams at this age group. FCP has done that in the past at various age groups, just as other larger clubs in the area have done or currently do. There should be more then enough playing time for everyone at a level appropriate for their skill.

They have three coaches currently, however the 'head' coach is Lisa Sari, but there are occasional conflicts as she is assistant coach at U of P. They practice at U of P for a couple of reasons. FCP/Liberty High school are getting all three turf fields rebuilt, so they are out of commission until the end of July / early August. So teams play on the Tiffiny Milbrett grass fields at HilHi, some on the turf at south meadows and some over at U of P in the mean time.

Do you get an automatic scholarship at U of P if you play there? No, but they do have 5 girls from FCP on their current roster. A quick look at their website they have 14 girls that have announced they are going to play college, just not all at UofP. although, I would assume they would have a leg up for recruiting if the girl is worth anything.

Oh and the friendly, was just that, it was friendly.

Maybe that's the problem with U of P the last few years. They need to look else where for recruiting so they can get back on top.

Make sure they are great students. Will help tremendously if it is UP, or any other school they are interested in or that is interested in them.

This would be true of any college in this area. There is minimal talent on Oregon, if you can get talent from out of state or the country, odds are you will have a better team. However, with that said, as an option for a kid wanting to play college soccer, around the northwest it's one of, if not the best option. Only a handful of girls historically have played for large successful programs out of this area. I always see posts about 'being seen' at tourneys, but then you look at where 95% of local recruits go and it's to local schools.

Additionally, the ones getting 'athletic' scholarships are mostly 'partial' ones. If your kid isn't stellar academically, college soccer is expensive.

THUSC Neon had way better players then FC but yet Garret recruited from FC. OSSA has more talented players as well but again he sticks with FC. U of P will continue on the decline and Garret might want to fear losing his job if this continues.

I would assume those girls went to Standford, S.D. state, Florida St., UCLA, Florida, Duke, etc.? I'm sure they were such a hot item that those 'neon' or OSSA girls were gobbled up by teams with better RPI's then UofP. G.S., just like every other college coach will take the best players he/she can get their hands on.

Neon? Shouldn't they be just about graduating from college now? Whats next, going to talk about Mia Hamm? Pele?

I get that this whole talking soccer forum is about talking smack and lying about how your club is the best, but you need to give it a rest. G.S. isn't going anywhere and UofP is doing just fine without your daughter.

The player of the year at Jesuit went to a Neon girl. Micaela was going to UO until a week before NLI signings. The asst. coach at UO, Lauren (from UP) managed to cause Micaela to switch to UP at the last minute. Micaela played with the U-20 national team once, was not even invited back to camp of over 30 in the Spring before her injury. Best not quote incomplete stats.

What it's your point anyways?

Mine was that only 2 players from that FC class went to UofP and they were the most deserving players from Oregon.

I didn't say something about one team being better then the other.
