No. Oregon tryouts for U11-U14 take place after state cup finals in May. Washington is on a different schedule for league and state cup so its clubs' tryouts fall under different dates.

Nothing. Don't care. But if too many Oregon kids start moving to WashT, the OPL might actually enforce their league rule about tryout dates...

Do all clubs charge a fee for try outs?

I was surprised that they wanted $25 for my daughter to try out for the team she's been on and the coaches all already know very well.

Tryouts are necessary if you want to at least give the appearance of an open field to start each year. So think about field fees, multiple coaches/evaluators, evaluation materials, administrative costs, etc. $25 is relatively low compared to what many others charge.

Some of the U9-U10 developmental programs are free, but if you're basing where you take your DK for tryouts on tryout cost you're doing it wrong.

Well I asked the question and I am not making any decisions based on try out fees. Just thought it was odd that my daughter had played with this coach for three years, is one of the top players on an state cup winning team (multiple years), and I have to send her with cash to try out? Hell, she has been actively recruited by two other coaches who want her out but never mentioned fees. We're not going anywhere.

Aside from covering the club's costs, fees also have the effect of limiting most kids to trying out only at the clubs where they are serious about competing for a spot. If tryouts were free, parents would drag their kids around town to try out with a number of different clubs to test the weather, so to speak, with no real intent to accepting a spot.
