    Not True!

WST charges $40 for try outs (like everyone else). You could have saved $15 if you signed up before May 1st. The only exception was some teams at TS that may/may not have a spot!

Hell, she has been actively recruited by two other coaches who want her out but never mentioned fees. We're not going anywhere.

No big deal just the principal. My wife usually handles this stuff but she's out of town. I didn't realize we had to pay for try outs in the past.
Look at it as reducing your club fees by more as those that tryout and don't make the team are contributing to the overall funds. You could try to skip tryouts, tell the coach you can't make them but still plan on being on the team - that probably won't make anyone happy. Not recommending it. Sometimes there are free supplemental tryouts or players go to practices that need more players for no extra fee. I agree that those already on a team should get free tryouts but in the end the overall costs are going to be the same, because they will get you somewhere.

Some people think their kid should get a scholarship for being good, but as far as I know it is based on financial need so you could apply and see what happens. Then let the rest of us know how so we can get our fees reduced too!

No it was not. It was $25.

Receiving scholarships not based on financial need is definitely a red flag when filling out NCAA paperwork prior to playing in college. They see it as being paid to play which would make you ineligible immediately. And yes, if it looks suspicious they will check.

Really so then how does that work for the Timbers Academy? They are all getting most of their costs covered?

Anyway they could just call it financial need.

If you live north, both FCSC and Pacific are offering free tryouts.

I would recommend that you read through a few of the threads dedicated to those teams before you try out. Of course, most of those threads go 50 pages deep so allow plenty of time.

How can you believe anything you read on this forum? It's absolutely absurd...

Riiiight. Slanderous threads on an anonymous blog is such a great way to get a feel for a club. LOL!

Actually, I thought the majority of the comments regarding Pacific FC were quite favorable
                        and positive.
That other club, well, not so much.

Actually, the comments are quite telling about the parents on the club. Since the parents have to be around each other, reading the comments is pretty telling of the people you will be hanging around with. Based upon the threads and the vitriol spewed, I would avoid both of these clubs. No free tryout is worth spending time with those whackos.

Not when you have no idea who is saying what. Sadly people pretend to be everyone on here.

Yes, I'm sure it's a bunch of FC, or Thusc, or WST or, ... parents making 50 pages of comments on 9 or 10 separate threads. Free tryout or not, I'd avoid.
