How do those of us who want to flag these issues connect off of this thread? Legit question. I have no dog in this fight anymore as my kids have graduated and moved on.

RJ is trying to get my daughter to play for Surf. His Surf pitch is largely based on his soccer connections. To prove his point, he put us in touch with SF. SF watched some film and offered her a spot on next year's varsity at Jesuit. We're not really Catholic school people, but it seems like a good opportunity.
Can you guys please not complain about this? Thanks!

RJ has repeatedly boasted to the kids and parents that used to private train with him that he will “get them D1 scholarships”. This is a fact and I have witnessed this. You parents also know this to be true.
I guarantee you he promised Jesuit connections and made that happen.
Fennah has been doing this shady stuff for years, but this may be the best evidence of using a club director to place players on the team

i have emailed both Larry Ramirez and Gustavo Balderas
I have not received a response yet. 2 days ago. I will continue to email them. They have board meetings that are recorded on YouTube
This site can be the public record of either their action/responsiveness or lack of action or non-responsiveness.
either way we can try to hold them accountable to inquire about the Undue Influence rules violations accusation against the coach, Ryan Johnson and possibly players to recruit club members and transfers from other high schools.

Just emailed Gustavo Balderas
6a_eb_rep@osaa.org
stated that they need to review complaints about collusion between 2 local ECNL clubs and Jesuit coach Steve Fennah. There is no diversity on the varsity team. It’s all Thorns and some Surf players

So, I don't think anyone has done anything to break the rules. (RJ is not officially a representative of Jesuit. Parents can talk all they want. We're still not sure if we'll switch to Surf though... hope RJ doesn't read this!)
considered complicit in recruiting players for a particular program.
Maybe not you, but someone is reporting these “conversations” to OSAA.

Girls high school soccer is mostly irrelevant to top college coaches. They recruit heavily from ECNL and don’t spend any time watching high school games. This is clearly evident if you attend an ECNL showcase or look at the rosters of most D1 schools, youth national teams or the full national team. 100’s of college coaches attend every ECNL showcase event. Even a school like Jesuit rarely has college coaches attend games because it is a waste of their time. As for sending your kid to Jesuit to play soccer? There are dozens of reasons to attend Jesuit which are more important than soccer. Finally, Oregon Surf is not a successful club which is why they have changed their name 3 times in the past four years from Crossfire Oregon to NW Elite and now Oregon Surf. Successful business don’t
change their name on a regular basis.

This 2.0 player is guaranteed community college athlete and the other person would have been better for overall society with the Jesuit education. Your 2.0 player is now taking basic Geometry and PE and think Harvard is calling.

Man….this thread is so devoid of logic it is making my head hurt.
Facts: Jesuit girls soccer is actively recruiting players from ECNL teams. Making admissions selections based on this sole factor. Transferring teammates from other HS purely for athletic ability. This IS a violation of OSAA rules. No other private school is doing this.
Activity by a current Director of an ECNL club to place players on the team is also a violation of rules, but as important a clear conflict of interest at both the club and HS.
No one can argue that all private schools have an advantage to get players from around the city vs public schools only have their boundaries. But people, get real, Jesuit is such an outlier in terms of what they are doing that it is obviously gaming the rules and in doing so creating a completely unfair advantage to all other participants.
I and to those that say no one cares. Well, a lot of people do. And we are going to harass the s h i t out of OSAA until they have a hearing on the practices Jesuit is undertaking.
If Jesuit is clean, so be it. But if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, well it probably is a duck. And this all looks like a big pile of cheating for years that needs to be addressed and if confirmed, it needs to stop.
nothing to hide? Nothing worry about. But let’s let the light shine and see what the truth is.
contact OSAA and ask for an inquiry. For the sake of fair sports in the state of Oregon. It matters. Enough BS.
