This board should change its name to “talking sh*t about people who want to talk soccer.” Don’t want to discuss HS girls soccer, just start your own thread about what you want to talk about. This is just being mean for being mean’s sake.
I don’t know much about HS girls soccer, but I will eventually have a player of my own, so I’d be interested to hear who has solid programs and coaching and plays a good brand of soccer.Comment

Tualatin has had some very good players over the years, and has a few to watch this year.
Same with Cleveland.
Southridge had a goalie the last few years who was exceptional.
Jesuit’s JV team is very good, I would imagine the same could be said about many area JV teams, including Sunset, Mountainside and Lincoln.
I am neglecting to name some schools that absolutely belong on a list of teams worth watching, and I hope this board will fill in those blanks.
These are hard working solid athletes ranging in age from 14-18. They have yet to really accomplish anything, and all of their best years are ahead of them.
I would not count anyone or any team out.

Who cares? Honestly. Everyone knows that Jesuit will have good players at nearly every sport, and let me clue you into something….so will nearly every other private catholic school in the nation. They are able to take kids from anywhere and give them a great academic experience. They offer scholarships, and promote athletics. I would actually be surprised if they didn’t succeed. They should have a separate "open attendance" division for schools and school districts that don't have recognized attendance boundaries. That includes public magnet schools as well as private schools, both secular and religious.
Jesuit parents will throw a fit about being a very big fish in a very small pond, and I suspect the value proposition of Jesuit athletics would shrink--though as a private school, Jesuit could elect to participate with other elite private schools around the country, and promote that as yet another advantage over OSAA, just like ECNL likes to promote travel soccer as inherently superior to local in-state leagues.
But that's the way that sports is going in this country--everything is being monetized left and right, and if you can't either afford to play, and don't have pro-track skills sufficient to get subsidized by someone, sucks to be you then.Comment

Even in a program with Jesuit’s depth of ECNL players, Jesuit did not win a state title last year. Nor did they win a state title in 2021. Jesuit, like any team, is beatable.
Maybe this year is the year we see the return of Jesuit’s “Hulk Smash!”
Maybe not.
