Rumor is he is actively trying his hardest to convince Thorns players to jump ship and come to Surf. Will be interesting to see how that plays out.

This is accurate and he is not just recruiting for his 2010 team. They are recruiting girls from our 2009 Thorns team. I assume other age groups as well.

He is going to need to recruit for 2010s. No one currently on NWE 2010s is going to stay. We know his plan is to cut everyone and bring over his Thorns players. I can’t imagine anyone willing to go with him, but I’m sure there are a few crazy people that will follow.

Wait, if he is such a bad coach why would the Thorns players move to Surf?

RJ wants them to move with him. He had his daughter have a zoom call with the team (at least the ones he wants to keep) and ask them to move with him. This is why he got fired. The majority of the team hates him and is happy he is gone. Only 2 current thorns players have said they will go. The rest of the team is staying or looking at other clubs.

Sounds like a great fit for Oregon surf.

Why would the Thorns 2009s go to a team RJ isn't coaching? And to a team that is worse in the standings and can't win games? What is the draw?

I’m not the OP but my kid is on thorns and I know they are only asking a few of our top players to switch. They want to form a “dream team”. At least that is what Surf is calling it.

The hilarious thing about this is the RJ not only sounds like a joke of a coach, he’s really an inexperienced tool soccer parent that’s never done this before.

Come on mates. Connect the bloody dots. This attempt at a master plan for 2010 has been engineered for quite some time. Check out slide 13.

Ryan has been trying to do this for years. The problem is, his “dream team” consists of players that paid him for private training. And they are not that good! Oregon Surf is stupid for doing this. He will pull this crap and not only fail, but piss off every player and family at Surf. So dumb.
I have serious doubts that there is any “dream team” potential at either ECNL club. Give me a break!

Ryan is only about himself and his kid. The only reason he wants a dream team is to feed his overinflated ego and get his daughter looked at by top colleges. All you need to do is watch videos of past games to see that his entire style of play is centered around feeding his daughter the ball. The sad part is that she wasn't the best player on the team and all it did was alienate her from other girls and fail to provide growth for the rest of the teams he's coached.

This is spot on! Just look at the 2009 Thorns team that he coached for 2 years. They are struggling and ihaven’t developed at all.

It's too easy to say someone has NOT developed anyone. Who can you say HAS developed someone?

Watch film of games they coach and decide for yourself.
