I have no skin in this game, I just care about coaches in general, being a coach can be a thankless job with extremely low pay per hour worked. That does not excuse true abuse, but let’s not confuse a coaching style vs real abuse.
Hahahaha you PoS. He hasn’t been formally charged?

who are you? His lawyer? I know for a fact you don’t have your kid playing for him so stfu.

This puts stretch in the word stretch. How were these actions remotely connected to the youth academy?

Don’t bother trying to answer some convoluted, extrapolated answer. After three formal investigations these actions NEVER were connected to the Academy in any way or shape be it in the form of leadership or direct/indirect involvement.
I’m glad you are laughing at sally yates investigation into the abuse and practices the thorns have. I’m also glad you are stupid enough to not draw the relationship with the youth when it’s spouted all the “opportunities” they had with abusive and sick adults.

you thorns people will justify everything.

You really should educate yourself about emotional and verbal abuse. Trying to pass it off as an acceptable coaching style is not okay. Do you think a person has to break bones and cause black eyes for it to be considered “real abuse”. Emotional abuse includes belittling, yelling, using derogatory language, shaming, etc. Unfortunately this has become all too common in youth sports. It is beyond damaging to our children. As adults we cannot allow this to continue.

He got fired when they found out he was planning to leave. Facts. I know you don’t like them, but they still exist.

If you think the Thorns would fire any coach for abuse allegations, you are truly clueless. They have a long history of keeping bad coaches. In fact most of their coaching roster is that exactly

Hey azz clown, are you spewing just to see your words posted on an anonymous message board? Did I say anything other than the fact that he got fired? You're a tool.

This is a sincere question. In my experience not one of these coaches is abusive. Please explain. Tracy? Nope. Sharla? Nope. Chris? Nope. Kris? Nope. Darren? Nope. A kid may not like a coach’s coaching style/decisions, but that does not make them abusive. And one or two bad apples if you want to call them that over several years does not equal blatant generalizations that all coaches at a club are abusive.

Chris Thurley is abusive. I worked along side him and witnessed him call kids inappropriate names. midget was one of them. Also witnessed him shaming girls about body weight. I also reported this and nothing was done.

My daughter coached by him for a year with zero abuse.

As for calling someone a midget, is this really abuse? What is the context? My kid was given an award in a HS sport at school and it was titled Giraffe, the giraffe of the team apparently because of their height. Life is full of judgements and acknowledgements about the way someone looks conscious or unconscious. This is simply a fact. To deny reality or to encourage too much sensitivity in your child I TRULY feel is doing them a disservice.

As for fat shaming comments, I wonder again the context. I do not think someone should be “shamed” but at the same time, I do feel a coach should be able to objectively state to an athlete areas of improvement that would help them. If the player seems driven to play at a high level, I think it is perfectly reasonable to note that their body weight may be an area to work on if they want to be faster. If this is the only feedback a coach offers, then I would question the coach’s ability to develop the player. But if it is one comment amongst other areas for improvement than I say THIS IS NOT SHAMING.

You will probably respond that this was his only feedback to your player, but again, my kid was coached by Chris for a year and this was not the environment he created.

Being fit in soccer is a requirement for playing at a high level. Don't think that is shamming.

I think it is how you address it. Telling a kid they need to improve fitness is one thing. Telling them they are a fat ass or an elephant is another. I’m not saying Chris said these things. I don’t know him.

I am an outsider (out of state) looking in with no dog in this fight, just an observation. My daughter played against an RJ coached team a few years ago and we beat his 09 team. I was hanging out waiting for my daughter not 15 yards away from RJ's post game errr "non abusive" team talk.

All I heard were putting down comments telling them how bad they were, how none of them deserved to be on the team... blah blah blah pathetic, blah blah blah losers..... but sure... not "abusive".

That is a man who doesn't know what he is doing to be sure.

Veo Live doesn’t lie. Just find a few of their old games and listen to him. He is not a coach! The fact that the Thorns allowed him to coach for so long is ridiculous. It’s out there people just look it up! And if he’s going over to Surf they are just as stupid as Thorns to hire him. Everyone knows how he acts and treats players. He needs to move across the country if he wants to coach. Everyone in the PNW know how he acts and coaches.
