I suppose there are VUSA rec teams that would do pretty well in OPL divisions 3-5 so maybe we should call them all "premier" just like they do in Oregon :)

Studley is far from a bootball coach. He is one of the most respected coaches in all of Vancouver and Portland. There is very rarely negative words spoken about him. Your kid must have not made the cut.

Are you knocking VTimbers because they provide an avenue for all skill levels? If you think that is a poor idea for VTimbers to accomplish then I'm sorry for you. I will not blame you, it wasn't your fault your dad pulled out too early.

There is no "Premier" or "Select" anymore.....There are two facets to Youth soccer now....Recreation and Advanced Competition

there is no "premier" teams or "Select" teams from here on out....and yes....VTimbers does have what we used to call "select" teams that you don't regularly get to see in league because they weren't "premier" and didn't pay "premier" prices so they couldn't play in OPL...they had to play in PML....and most could play 1st or 2nd Division OPL...by 2014 you will begin to see more and more VTimbers "B" teams in OPL Premier Division also...along with their "A" teams

Steve Studley is an excellent youth coach with a very solid resume and record of success. He can flat out coach and inspire boys and girls who chose to play for him. We could use ten (10) more of him in Vancouver. Steve is the antithesis of Victor Usher.

              Sudley

I have to agree with the comment above I have seen his girls team play, there is nothing bootball about it, yes you will see balls over the top when they are on but you will also see diagonal balls designed to turn defenders and play compact when they havent got the ball to defend, so whoever said bootball is very mistaken

I think there is still a distinction between true "Premier" level youth soccer and whatever label you want to attach to the lower divisions 1-5 in the OREGON "PREMIER" LEAGUE ....whether they're called Premier B, Select A, B or C, or grouped all together as Advanced Competition.

The top teams in each age and gender are limited and restricted in number and compete in the TIMBERS NPL PREMIER DIVISION against the best-of-the-best. All other teams could be considered "Advanced Competition"........some skill level higher than recr soccer.

Dude...you need to get out of the '80's!
The previous poster was just telling you that there is no "Premier" or "Select" teams at VTimbers....Oregon is soooo far behind the game I think they still call teams "Classic" teams

Fine, so every VT team is in "Advanced Competition" ........some just way more advanced than others. Plenty of other Washington clubs still use a pecking order to identify team skill levels and their ability to compete. Get over yourself!

You clearly didn't see it either because if you did you'd realize only a moron would force kids to play possession in that mud pit. (Oops, Sorry TA)

Muddy, overly physical......any person could see that keeping the ball on the ground only would put kids in a an position to get hit or futile.

Why do you think the English play in the air so much back in the day? Not the best conditions to play on mate...

I guess Onyx are all morons because they kept the ball on the ground. Check yourself because you have zero clue.

Oh I saw it. The whole thing - start to finish. The 13 year olds played it on the ground with no difficulty and could have easily had 2 or 3 more goals (cross off the upright, outstanding save by Red GK). Made the Reds look a little silly, actually. The Reds couldn't complete 2 passes in a row. Maybe it's not the coaching. But if it's not, then what's left is...
