    Bio 2 years ago:

Peter Pickett brings forth a wealth of knowledge to our program. Originally from Salem OR, he played for Salem United soccer club and captain for North Salem HS, Peter was a 4 year starter at Cascade College (NAIA) in Portland Oregon and received his BA degree in education to be a teacher. For 2 years he worked as a soccer instructor and assistant coach for the Laurel camps on the east coast under current Professional Club Celtic, youth development coach & Glasgow University Coach Euan Warren and East Carolina University Womens Coach Rich Stoneman. From there he was an assistant coach for the Cascade Surge, a men's semi professional team in the USL (PDL Divison) and ran their summer youth program. Peter is currently the Riverdale High School Assistant Varsity boys coach in Portland Oregon. Peter resides in E. Vancouver with his wife and daughter.

    Current Bio:

    Tier 2
    GU14 Vancouver Timbers–Reds
    Head Coach
    Peter Pickett:
NSCAA national diploma (Will complete advanced national 8/13)

    Western Oregon university women's coach
Portland Timbers ODP staff coach/boys 2000 state
    coach/rtc director & head coach
Former Seattle Sounders rtc staff coach for Vancouver and Tacoma

Former Surge USL mens semi-pro assistant coach

    Former Clark college women's coach

5 years club coach and 3 years high school coach

Other than the current VT 99 Reds he was given on a Silver Platter, what has he really accomplished as a youth coach at the Premier Level. Peter can't seriously take credit for their development when they were already an Elite team prior to him even taking over. Give credit to the former coaches.
If development were happening, wouldn't some former Timbers Blues B players have landed a roster spot on the Reds. All I see them utilizing is invited guest players from virtually every OPL club.
Have any Blues ever guest played for the Reds in tournaments or in the RCL? If not, maybe Peter could explain why not.

Ding, ding, ding...was wondering when someone would ask this obvious question. And the answer is few to none because the 99 Timbers Blue team was/is really a select level team. PP wanted to assess the Valencia players instead because well it wasn't recruiting...to have them guest play and attend his practices

Are the Timbers Blue-Green going to move up to the OPL premier division to take the spot
Valencia earned? Or did that option die with the team being busted up?

I am a VT supporter, and honestly do not think all that highly of him. I think his soccer coaching skill is average and his personal skills w the kids is below average.

I don't think VT Green wants to get an embarrassing ass-whipping next fall in the GU14 premier division.
Valencia had a strong shot at being a top-4 contender, but that's gone now that the team is
              no more.

Who says this team is no more? Stop listening to the board.

                  3 or 4 players don't make a team.
As always, Peter and the Reds will get first pick; a few others will leave and tryout at PDX clubs; some of the poor, lost, homeless souls may wander back to FCSC (for reasons that only Tina knows).
Doubt seriously if any will want to be part of the VT Green Machine.

Right. Even if a few go to fcsc it doesn't mean they all are. The B team will be fine. We'll find out but I bet they are top 4 premier OPL, no matter how it shakes out. And I do see the Reds using player passes for those top B players from time to time. You have so many numbers coming to the age group. Ex Valencia, displaced reds, blues, liberty, freedom, maybe even disgruntled fcsc. You don't think a solid B team will be made? It will. It may take a little time to gel but it will compete OPL premier.

Seriously...step back and wait until after state cup...I hear rumors of MOST of this team...coach included...staying together....WHICH THEY SHOULD. It's a shame for them to break apart and head in 15 different directions. In tact they would be on top of the OPL premier...plain and simple.

If they can manage to ALL stay together would throw a giant wrench into a few teams' plans. NICE...LOVE IT!!

And reds play RCL so the B team really becomes the A team in Oregon. Its not like they have to compete against each other in the same league.
