ECNL - Is it worth it?

Some children play ECNL for the pure enjoyment of it even though they are already committed. Notice that some of the discovery players were committed prior to playing ECNL. It is simply a level of play issue.

For the parent that is writing similar to someone who is frothing at the mouth I would highly recommend you save your energy for things that are going on in your own life. Who cares if others choose ECNL?

To the parent that was wondering why it is even relevant to Oregon and SW Wa, it is because the players can train locally and play for a Washington team if they choose to. It really just comes down to choice. For the uncommitted age groups and if the child is really good ECNL is another path to higher level of play and will absolutely get you noticed as much as attending Surf with a PDX area club team.

Vegas Heat happens to be an ECNL club who draws a lot of other ECNL clubs and teams (you're only proving my point here).

The Surf Cup happens to be one of the biggest tournaments in the country. There are tons of ECNL teams competing.

You're on a crusade to discredit the ECNL which is a joke. The ECNL is a great opportunity for kids who play at that level. It is better competition then what we see in the OPL. It opens doors to play other high quality teams more frequently. Those same teams compete at Surf, Disney, and Vegas. They do BOTH! Ultimately, they get better experience and more exposure. If that is your thing then go for it. If not.... don't! Rocket science!

Clearly there are tons of kids who don't play on the ECNL who play in college. If that weren't the case, there would be very few girls from Oregon playing in college.

The garbage that you reference above will likely be way ahead of your team in a year or two when you find out what happens at the older age groups. Teams fall apart in Oregon and yours will almost certainly fail if you conduct yourself like this with the other parents. They simply won't want to deal with you and will go elsewhere. Crossfire and Washington Premier do not put out garbage for teams. You seem to be very resentful of others and it truly makes no sense as it has nothing to do with you. Parents like you should be avoided whenever possible!!!!!

What I don't have? It's pretty clear anyone can play ecnl. They don't exactly cut anyone and take everyone which is shown by their 25 person roster. When onyx is tougher to make than that lesser crossfire team... That says something. It also says something that 200 plus kids in that area won't drive 30 minutes for something you will drive 8 hours for.


There are some good Seattle area players on that team but they have to fill out the ranks with crAzies like you. Shown by only 1-2 kids and crAzy parents who think its going to get their kid to college from this area.
