Who's watching your OPL team play this weekend
There will be 80+ different D1 & 2 College coaches watching the ECNL tournament in Frisco Texas this coming weekend. Who is going to be on the sideline in the Metro area this weekend.
Oh and before you say it costs too much the 3 day package including airfare is $650.

The most important person...ME! I will be watching on the sidelines this weekend. That is all my DD needs. For $650 we can have a lot of ice cream and Jamba Juice after the games.

NO ECNL?! National team player?!
I'm beside myself!
Something must be completely off if these kids including Ellie who is the best of all the recruits made it without playing ECNL.
*The Crossfire Coach told me that driving 30 hours a week and paying 5k a year is going to put my kid ahead of these non- ECNL parents and players...
We get to go to Texas where 50 coaches are going to be but FC Portland is going to Las Vegas where 200+ coaches are going to be........
COME ON! This doesn't make SENSE!

I'm really sorry things aren't working out for you. Maybe you should have taken them to FL and played on their ECNL team. That is more exposure to college coaches than you're broke U-14 team who can't beat out lowly OPL team...:(

If your kid is a D1 talent. They are going D1 regardless of who they play for. Notice all the D1 players coming about of Portland and Vancouver Clubs as well as Non ECNL teams like Pac NW Eastside Nationals etc.
Its these idiots who think that coaches only go to ECNL tournaments when actually tournaments like Surf, Vegas, Disney bring more by far. Its so funny how they some how think they are going to trick some college coach into thinking their kid is BETTER than they actually are because they are on a team that says ECNL. I guarantee you that if any coach is going to invest money into a player, they don't give a rats what team they are from and certainly are not going to say....
"Lets go find the D1 players at Crossfire, and forget about the other 4 clubs in the state that put out 2x more talent than Crossfire."
How stupid people can be. Don't fall for their ploys. Idiot ideas seem so much easier to swallow when you can car pool 7 hours round trip and affirm it together.

You miss the point. The ECNL offers more divers and consistently higher quality competition. It does not necessarily have all the top teams and players in all age groups. THUSC and other Oregon teams beat ECNL teams and have won ECNL club based tournaments. It comes down to consistency of quality, more diverse competition, and exposure. You will consistently find more college coaches and scouts at ECNL events because there is a higher concentration of college bound athletes.

More college coaches go to Vegas, Surf, and Disney......pretty much throws away your point doesn't it?
With National team players and D1 players coming out of non ECNL teams, that pretty much makes what you are doing........stupid?

These ECNL idiots talk in ideas brought about by the cool aid yet can't seem to face the facts....
There are always idiots everywhere. Funny that Crossfire found some down here dumb enough to buy in. Or maybe.......this parent just know something the 200+ parents in the WA and Seattle area do not. Or, they are just that GOOD!

That actually describes the conversation I had with an ECNL crazy parent.
Great solution!
I should see if UW will have my kid train with them. That is the TOP competition! She can only get better right?!

Re read my post. Read the word CONSISTENTLY. Of course there are exceptions! Of course college recruiters will attend non ECNL events! Polarizing this is just stupid and a veiled attempt to prove your wrong opinion.
FYI
Vegas Heat happens to be an ECNL club who draws a lot of other ECNL clubs and teams (you're only proving my point here).
The Surf Cup happens to be one of the biggest tournaments in the country. There are tons of ECNL teams competing.
Disney.... Anger tournament like Surf.
Now go breath and take a break before you make another foolish post.

Well none of this matters anyway since there are no ECNL clubs in Oregon or SW Washington. Why are people making such a big deal out of this?

Some children play ECNL for the pure enjoyment of it even though they are already committed. Notice that some of the discovery players were committed prior to playing ECNL. It is simply a level of play issue.
For the parent that is writing similar to someone who is frothing at the mouth I would highly recommend you save your energy for things that are going on in your own life. Who cares if others choose ECNL?
To the parent that was wondering why it is even relevant to Oregon and SW Wa, it is because the players can train locally and play for a Washington team if they choose to. It really just comes down to choice. For the uncommitted age groups and if the child is really good ECNL is another path to higher level of play and will absolutely get you noticed as much as attending Surf with a PDX area club team.
