This person is lame. The prior poster stated the Thorns performance recap well and it was easy to digest. Thank you.

ECNL Playoffs for U16 and U17 ages have 4 brackets. And there is one bracket for U14. The top bracket for U16 and U17 and the only bracket for U14 is called the Champions League bracket. It consists of 44 teams out of the 120+ teams in the league. This is the bracket the 3 Thorns teams qualified in.

U17 NW Elite qualified for the third bracket called Showcase A and I believe lost in a semi final game. There are 16 teams in this third bracket.

U16 NW Elite did not qualify initially, but was asked to play in the fourth bracket, Showcase B and did quite well winning this. There are 16 teams in this fourth bracket.

                U16 NWE didn't win the 4th bracket. They lost 1-2, 0-5 & 1-2.

U17 NWE won their first two games in 3rd bracket. Won 2-1, 1-0, then lost 1-3.

U17 Thorns lost in the round of 16 in 1st bracket 5-1.

Not same poster but I will comment.
Somewhat amazing the Thorns U17 made it this far given they showed up to playoffs with 3 field subs, having lost 2 starters to injury earlier and another potential starter in Fall due to an ACL injury. Bench players not at the same level and played sparingly in first 3 games.

Then worse happened today in game four, 2 additional starters were lost in the first half due to concussion and face kick, so subs played a lot of minutes, plus a very tired group of remaining starters, just had nothing left today against a good team.

A lot of lopsided games. A lot of very tired legs. Seems like this many high level, aggressive 90 minute games in one week comes down to which teams have a full bench by the fourth game.

Nobody cares about them playing mediocre teams and losing because of mediocre excuses

Way to trash the "bench players". Stay classy.

I'm not a Thorns parent but I am an ECNL parent and those are not mediocre teams. All you non-ECNL people should go to a showcase event or the playoffs and see what you don't know ... or better yet shut the eff up.

ECNL is good how to rank them is not easy - I would like to see MLS Next vs ECNL have a combo Showcase with age appropriate teams and see who wins or what is the speed of play difference.

That's fair. The girls teams that make it to the quarters and above though all come from basically the same set of clubs every year.

Regardless of injury and player situation, in this game a 1-5 loss is a beatdown. Nothing to debate here it is a huge skill gap.

The reality is that soccer across all clubs in the Pacific NW is mediocre at best.
