I just got a call from my friend, and the Thorns are now partnering with Albion. I've been telling her she's getting conned. Westside, FC, and now Albion. Doesn't that tell you something about the Thorns? Are they just hard to work with?

The timbers are losing all their affiliates. This is not coincidental. The Thorns are an all-girls club that plays ECNL. They are only called the Thorns as an affiliate. They have no connection with the first team, and their players are not tied to any future draft picks. Unlike the Timbers Boys academy, which is free and the Timbers have the first option to get them back. Why do Girls have to pay and the boys don't? Would that not be a red flag to these deluded Thorns parents?

Thorns don't want to be in the youth soccer business, which you are if you compete in ECNL (MLS Next has more of a pro-academy structure). And for good reason--lots of back end paperwork and other administrivia, and if you are pay to play, then the parents are your customers, even if many of them are obnoxious fools.
But they seem to think that their youth club partners should simply be thrilled to be part of the program.
Ah well... Thorns have likely poached anyone from FC worth poaching.

look at the coaching staff. They are all old OYSA club hacks. All of them. So what is different? Nothing.

Wow what a scam.
Thorns tried to run their academy. Decided it was a waste. Westside running it. Ended up realizing it was a glorified pyramid scam. Fc Portland was dumped with it after thorns poached their teams. Now fc doesn’t want to run it and Albion Portland is going to be their %^#*}. I bet they offered curriculum and exposure. Hahahahaha
what a joke.

- ignoring their almost non existent affiliation with the pro team due to abuse, drugs, inappropriate relationships and exposure to those coaches.
But hey, 3 of their teams had an ok year on the outside while also complaining of abuse (RJ 09)
You are the perfect reflection of a desperate seller.
Wait and see what happens..
