    OPFC to ECNL

    Confirmed.

And 4 other teams in Oregon… but it’s the ECNL RL. That’s “Regional League” for the LO parents about to run out and get “My Child Plays in the Exclusive ECNL” car decals LOL.

Essentially, the same teams in OYSA Premier Gold playing each other in the same league that will now dress up as ECNL Regional League. Oh, and we get to play some of the 2nd and 3rd teams of the WA ECNL clubs. Which I’m not sure is better than the Premier Silver OYSA teams. Our club tried to make it sound like it was the actual ECNL but then backtrackedz

Not sure this is any better than getting serial texts/DM from BM. Jus sayin.

We are one of the Portland area clubs also selected (Westside Metros). But my understanding was that it was ECNL when I spoke to the club rep. I do not want to take my son to Washington every other weekend to play a club’s 2nd or 3rd team. Either it’s the real deal ECNL or not?

Everyone’s a comedian on this forum. The only 3rd team in RCL would be XF. All of the other teams would field their 2nd team which is still not bad but sure it’s worth traveling so much for. But aren’t those the same teams that play in USYS NW conference?

Can they make a Oregon ECNL with cross over games with Washington ECNL ?

United PDX joined Elite Academy League and then the ECNL to allegedly play a higher level of competition and give players better exposure

In reality, they just wanted a marketing advantage to differentiate themselves from the other clubs to attract and recruit (not develop) players.

They spent a year travelling all over the NW for mediocre games in the Elite Academy League (i.e. sending 11/12 year olds on a chartered plane to play an average team in Spokane for a Saturday game in order to return to PDX in time for a Sunday OYSA game)

Then they spent a year in ECNL getting beat up by Seattle teams - sending HS players for weekend games in Seattle, with no team training during the week - since they were with their HS teams and United PDX doesn't have enough fall fields for them to train during the ECNL season

After all this, they are now trying to get all the big Oregon clubs (Eastside, Westside, OPFC, FC Portland, PCU, CFC, Eugene) to put their boys premier teams into an ECNL Oregon / Idaho league.... so just OYSA Premier Gold plus two Idaho clubs

They still want to be ECNL, but they don't want to get beat up by Seattle teams during the Oregon HS season

United PDX (and OPFC) have chased other "elite" leagues for the last 2-3 years for marketing purposes, and once the parents and players realized it wasn't worth it or got tired of losing in Seattle, now they want to play the same OYSA Premier Gold teams, just call it ECNL

As a Washington Parent playing in ECNL, I think you will enjoy ECNLR. And I also think it's a pathway to ECNL. Boys ECNL a has been a significantly better experience than WYS/RCL. And many of the same standards exist in ECNLR. I also believe ECNLR provides you access to ECNL events and I can assure you those are absolutely worth attending.

Give it a chance, you've definitely raised the level within ECNLR and it doesn't hurt to be the pot that stirs the drink.

                    Good Luck!

Dropped the knowledge and I really hope the rumor of these teams all joining is wrong .

Nailed it. Essentially “just OYSA Premier Gold plus two Idaho clubs” is exactly it. Won’t even be playing any WA teams. Fake it until you make it, I guess. At least they’re reading the room and realizing that before they lose players to United PDX and WA Timbers since parents are wising up, they’d better create the illusion of ECNL.

Pretty good consolation prize, actually. Claim ECNL but don’t really bear any of the burden of playing in it. I’d sign up for that if my kid couldn’t make WT or UPDX.

                              OPFC to DOJ
