They won’t play WA teams. That’s why it’s called Regional. Just a glorified version of OYSA Gold + Silver. Throw in a couple of Idaho teams that Oregon clubs already play in friendlies and USYS NW conference. Not sure why it’s worth the hassle but if placates the crazy youth soccer parents at Westside Metros, EST and OPFC then why not? I could see OPFC becoming the first club in the area charging over $2500 for annual fees. Just pricing out the poor kids but who cares about that as long as little Tommy can play with the same friends from his LO bubble.

And many of the same standards exist in ECNLR. I also believe ECNLR provides you access to ECNL events and I can assure you those are absolutely worth attending.

Give it a chance, you've definitely raised the level within ECNLR and it doesn't hurt to be the pot that stirs the drink.

          Good Luck!
Finally a post that’s not bashing on clubs, leagues, parents and/or players. A unicorn in this otherwise cesspool of nastiness. Thanks!

Pretty good consolation prize, actually. Claim ECNL but don’t really bear any of the burden of playing in it. I’d sign up for that if my kid couldn’t make WT or UPDX.
After getting slapped around in WA ECNL Those two teams would be in this league too so time to dismount the high horse .

Unless it's for regionals, I wouldn't be thrilled about having to go to Boise.

              Coeur d'Alene is worse.

USCS wants our clubs to get their feet wet first in a regional league. Maybe the Washington Timber's struggle in the ECNL had something to do with a guarded look at new clubs entering the NW ECNL. FWIW, when area clubs looked to join USCS in its infancy, your club hosted the first USCS Northwest Tournament at THPRD Rec Center. There wasn't a league. I think Westside, FC Portland and PCU played in it. The rest of the clubs were from Washington and California. I remember the cocky Crossfire Premier HC (a real sob) and the Daville Mustang parents getting angry that the Orgon clubs were beating them. Maybe we're seeing an opportunity to again more doors to our clubs here. You can always choose to say no and pull your kid. Let someone else get a chance to play.

These are the tiers for soccer in the US:

                  #1 MLS
                  #2 MLS Next
(There are tournaments for just these two that D1 & D2 coaches attend)
                  #3 ECNL
                  #4 ECRL
                  # 5 State Premier/USYS Champion Div
                  # 6 State Top Tier

What clubs are trying to get Oregon kids into these leagues?

You pose a valid question at the end, and I'm not one of the many posters who are here exclusively to sh** on what others say, but I think you're overlooking a few USL related tiers.

MLS is a professional league. Anyone who plays there is a professional, or on a pro track. It's not an academy system.

MLS next is the top academy league and includes both youth and adult academies. Including USL and independent clubs.

Beyond that it's all pay to play.

Majority of clubs in MLS Next are pay to play

Except that is not the case in Oregon. TA has done nothing for Oregon kids and college. Sure, a few do end up in crappy D2 programs, but how many end in D2, D3, NAIA? More. How many OYSA boys in the past 2 years have gone D1 and D2? Not talking smack about any club here, just stating a fact. TA is the exception to the MLS pathway. (Sadly)

every person reading this who knows the inner workings of youth soccer knows this is trash. Anybody reading this that doesn’t, may think this is valid.

Also, There are at least about 200+ D1/D2 schools that would get demolished by D3s.

This might be the dumbest post this week.

                              - ERCL is a joke.

                              - USYS have teams that are better than anything from Oregon and commit much more players than the best clubs here.

                              - MLS Next is a scam

                              - ECNL is like a half rotten apple. Helpful for a few players but pretty wasteful for the rest.

I bet your name on here you can’t say anything to back up these lies. No one who knows anything about boys soccer would back this up.

You lost me, there is a no ECNL Regional League. Westside, OPFC, UPDX and Washington make up the league?
