Its a US Club platform. Not the greatest, mostly because their isn't a large US Club presence in Oregon.

This id2 thing definitely needs to happen in Oregon. Nothing wrong with healthy competition. Btw, I bet you can assemble a team of players not traveling to Phoenix from the ODP pool and they would defeat the ‘09 Phoenix squad. Probably same for ‘10. That’s how wrong the coaches got it.

Sounds like you need a hobby or a professional sports team to follow. Pick up knitting?

What changes would need to be made so that selections are player evaluation driven? The challenge is so much is subjective and after the top 3-5 players there is a large group all close together. Having two sessions to choose Arizona 18 means relationships will drive decision making because it is impossible for a coach to see the 50 players and evaluate who truly is top 18-25. What would happen if before a tryout clubs/teams/ODP publicized specifically their criterion for selections. IE technical skill, vision, decision making, 1v1, defense, finishing etc.

Likely a bunch of players from the other half who didn’t make it. Not rocket science.

There are some players (top 2-3 are always obvious, and any returning regional selections you have to put on the traveling squad) that are a given. But when it comes to the rest of the squad; you f around, then you’re gonna find out.

Do you know what the Timbers used when they ran it?

I'll take a crack at this one, first you are stupid. OYSA just got ODP handed to them. This was a Timbers program but due to off the field issues the Timbers dumped this back on OYSA with everything else. (GW basically held a money gun to OYSA's head to take control of youth soccer including ODP many years ago).

So when OYSA got handed this program back I don't think it came with the money already spent. They just dumped it. So they aren't cheap, they are poor.

                            Thanks again Timbers !!!

Unfortunately the sport of soccer is by nature very subjective. And that is why even at the most premier levels of the sport, politics and favoritism are prevalent. The only way to be on top on the sport is to be undeniably great. Everyone else is subject to the politics, nepotism, and favoritism that has plagued youth soccer for as long as it’s been a pay to play model.

as far as ODP is concerned….. it needed to die in order to be reborn. This is the death kick before it hopefully rises to become a truly independent opportunity. But the only way this happens is to keep every single stupid a-s soccer bum local club coach as far away from it as possible. It needs to be a completely separate group. How that happens? I don’t know. But until it does you will get the same crap as always. Players that are connected to the coach, parents that pay a little more to the club or have influence and the rare few that are talented enough to be there on their own merit.

Yes….they used old a@& recycled shirts that the kids had to return after they played. At least the kids get to keep these shirts and have a souvenir of their time getting donkey punched by better ran state ODP teams.
