Do you think high school teachers and high school coaches should be directly texting an individual freshman/9th grader? As a parent, I'd feel uncomfortable with that

Text communications between a coach and a HS-aged player, with whom the coach has an established relationship, on the subject of soccer: OK. (This also includes private messages on things like TeamSnap).

To a middle-school age player, not OK unless a parent or guardian is included.

To a player who is not on said coach's roster: Not OK at any age, unless a parent or guardian is included.

Anyone who coaches for UPDX has taken a blood oath to take advantage of the youth in every way possible. Coach Lu is a prime example and she learned from the best. B, “text your kid when you’re sleeping” M.

My daughter had her as a coach and was the best coach. She can be motivating, tough on them and a friend. It’s a shame people take that as bad, I didn’t and my daughter didn’t. I wish more coaches were like her!

Just because she wasn’t inappropriate to your daughter doesn’t mean she wasn’t inappropriate to others. Stop enabling, coward.

Coaches aren’t supposed to be your friend. That’s what got her in grey areas. Being a friend to a 15 year old girl doesn’t translate when you are supposed to be the adult.
