Firstly I’m fairly certain 90% of coaches text players. Especially when they get to HS age and college recruitment. You don’t see college coaches text mom and dad along with player when recruiting. Good luck if your kid doesn’t know how to keep up connections and communicate via message.

I honestly don’t know one HS coach that doesn’t text a player for any reason and only does it with parents on the thread.

How about a college coach texting your individual player in their sophomore year as it is happening right now around the country.

My sons coach has texted him directly before without me on it. It doesn’t bother me because the handful of times it’s about stuff I didn’t do in the first place or feedback on the game. “Tell coach you are going to be late.” “He responded and said don’t forget to bring both jerseys I forgot last time”

if there ever was a sus text like what are you doing tonight or some bs like that I’d be weary but that’s why I’m involved in his life so I can know these things.

I can tell you right now there is no rules when it comes to football recruitment as my son has coaches texting him since freshman year including his HS coach. Am I worried? Hell no.

Will anyone who knows what the text was about say what was inappropriate about it? Was it simply texting without the parent on the thread? was it gossiping, reprimanding, soliciting a minor - I don't need/want to know the exact verbage but just what was it about?
