I've heard that OYSA is partially funded by fees paid by youth clubs like PUFC. Is that correct?

Well, I thought so! The reason I was calling them, is, like I said, Tommy doesn't benefit from OYSA having a technical director. So I would like to deduct my share of his salary from my club dues. No, it won't cost you guys anything. All you have to do is pass the deduction along, and let OYSA know that the parents of one of your players--one of your up-and-coming stars, in fact--doesn't wish to pay for an OYSA technical director, and they are withholding that portion of their club dues that go to the technical director's salary.

No, I'm not crazy, I'm dead serious. I don't care if it's only $50 or even $5, have your accountant figure it out and get back to me.

No need to cut me a check, just send it to Coach <redacted> to cover next Thursday's private training session.

You have a nice day too!
And if you don't refund me my money I will give you a few other options that are acceptable:

    1. Please send me a donation receipt for my taxes. If Goodwill as sks me for a receipt for donations then I expect you to as well!!
    2. Please create a plaque in my name and hang it in the TD's office.
    3. Please create an OYSA walk of Fame for contributions and add my name to one of the bricks.

I need to be acknowledged for my philanthropy.

Can someone please enlighten me what the TD in Oregon (OYSA) has done to develop any players? Genuinely? Would love some insight from what I see he looks after his boys over at PCU but outside of that please give me something else I can cling onto hope with?

He doesn't have a good relationship with PCU, that ended years ago. He's only looking out himself and UPDX

I'll take your word for it but whatever he is, he is 1) not a soccer man 2) conflicted 3) done nothing to bring anything positive to Oregon soccer aside from dollar bills into his buddy's pockets

                  OYSA is a necessary evil.

The club soccer scene is the problem here. Way to many "elite teams" and not enough rec teams.

Parents don't want to pay for a "rec" team. That is not a business model that will support the current system at all!

Slightly different subject but it seems like sometimes it is not so much about getting little Johnny or Little Jill to college athletics but just on the varsity team. Parents invest silly amounts of money just so they can play or make the high school team... perhaps so they can relive or make up for their lost dreams.

They should just fold and move on

the 10 year contract was signed by John Madding, an awful director and guy who 'abruptly left' after some financial irregularities (he's doing real estate now!)

OYSA get nothing out of this deal, and haven't for years.

Their completely inept Board Chair, Steve Baker, saw an opening and took it trying to come out as the Knight in shining armor, when this was an easy call for anyone. But he knows soccer. better than anyone because he has an english accent, and used to coach U8 rec in the 80's....just ask him, he'll tell you.
