NW Elite is only better at 06 age group now. The 03 and 04 ages are irrelevant now. Thorns is attracting the best talent at the younger ages, and they are also stronger at the 05 age also.

Bridge City is a landing spot for soccer elitists who know more about soccer than rest of us. Most of their players are castoffs from ECNL programs who are holding onto the belief that GA is on par with ECNL.

Soccer elitists? I have read a bunch of negative stuff here, but haven't read that.

Regarding the latter part of that post. That is certainly a negative way of stating it, but even if you are correct--players are castoffs from ECNL--it does not mean it is a bad option over playing on an ECRL or other team.

This is not aimed at the OP, but for others looking, if you're kid is not ECNL level then I would not discount Bridge City or other GA teams. I would say that GA in the Pac NW is akin to ECRL quality teams. Since this is all anonymous, I will admit that my daughter is not likely ready for ECNL and likely would be on an ECRL team. She has markedly improved at BCSA. I am very happy with the coaching on the club's top tier teams at her age group. I am a parent that has had kids at THUSC/NWE and FC Portland in the past, so I would not say I am a newbie.

Also, while there is travel with GA, it is not as much as ECNL, so that may be a thing that some care about.

This was a nice and honest post and I did enjoy reading it. I am not sure what your tactics are so until then I am going to continue to be a jerk. So, yeah go luck to your daughter seems like a good fit for her.

Make your decision based upon spending time with the teams/coaches/clubs/parents. People on this forum are wildly negative about everything.

ECNL Thorns and NW Elite FCP

Do not hold your breath. Some injuries on NW Elite 06 team towards the end of the season combined with losing one key player is going to take some recovery time. But can never rule them out. They still have good players remaining and Internationally known Tiffeny Milbrett is now coaching them. TV Thorns 06 picked up some players. This year coming is a new year, they both will be competitive. I have heard WA Timbers 06 is competitive too. Would be fun for NW Elite and Thorns teams to play Girls Academy WA Timbers 06 out of league and for that matter United Portland’s ECNL-R 06 team this coming year! Thorns played US Youth Soccer OYSA Eastside Timbers teams last year as well as some age groups played Girl’s Academy Reign teams and crushed them all, from what I heard.

Washington 06 is head and shoulders better than the thorns. Who knows about NWE and all their injuries. Both teams beat them.

Well no one knows until they play. Arrange it! Thorns 06s had two key injuries for some starters last year that are now healthy. And they picked up the 05 player last year who is actually an 06 and was the Thorns 05 team’s top goal scorer. Would love to see these these three 06 teams in a round robin season warm up battle!!

Played both teams. Closer game against thorns. We get destroyed by Washington.

Just my opinion but we don’t stand a chance against Washington, can’t stop their scorers but came away from playing the thorns thinking we were competitive.

Some injuries? NWE 06 has had 5 ACL injuries in the past year. YES, you heard it 5 ACL injuries. How does this happen with a team and it is not random. How many ACLs have occurred on your daughter's club/team? What is up with the NWE 06 program? Why did this happen?

Thorns 07 team played 06 WA Timbers this past year and lost 1-0 in the last few mins. I don’t think 06 Thorns vs 06 Wa Timbers is as competitive as you think.

And that’s before they picked up half of the FC Portland 07 players.

Laughable, that was on a snow covered field in early December. Would be nice if you include all the facts.

And once again this thread has gone from one of actual feedback that could help the original poster, into a turf war. Bummer we can't stay on topic and actually help the person out.
