90 isn't even hot and I support all our our NW teams attending out of state tournaments. Gotta kill the time between games somehow so what better way then watching more soccer.
Eugene is a great team and we alway enjoy playing your team. Hopefully it was not an FC Parent going on here and claiming that we are a better team. The result last weeked was a tie. Many of the results between our teams have been tie. We have probably won an equal number of games that we have lost vs. Eugene. Even when we win, the game is close until the very end.
Not sure if we have played you more then once in Eugene (Maybe twice). Like I said Eugene is a very good game. I am not sure I would say that FC Portland gets dominated by Eugene. There are moments (about 5 minutes) in our games where it seems like one team dominates, but IMHO this goes back and forth and really evens out.
I would say the teams are pretty even. On any given day one team may be slightly better then the other.
I am an EMFC parent and I agree. It is always a good match when FC and EMFC play and there seems to be a lot of respect between the players, parents and coaches. Always a game I look forward to watching our girls play.
Summer Surf is the tournament to win. Thanksgiving Surf is good but doesn't draw the same competition. Both are great tournaments but everyone knows Thanksgiving Surf is no where near the quality of summer Surf. I have had a child attend both for years. I wish the VT Timbers the best of luck! It will still be one of the better tournaments for the year!
VTimber parents know it all. Do not clue them in they might start speaking intelligently.
I think what the person meant was that the team is very good tactically. The problem that he/she sees is that the a lot of the girls lack the confidence technically because they are instructed to get rid of the ball in 1-2 touches. If they get in a situation (like in California) where they may have to hold onto the ball some are not able to do so. In Oregon it's easy to play 1-2 touch soccer because other teams tend to chase the ball. In California sometimes it seems as if the other team has 13 players on the field because no one seems to be open and you may have to try to create something out of nothing.
If you have to consistently try to create something from nothing then you are going to be in big trouble.
Take a look at soccer played at a high level. There is not a whole lot of creating unless you are trying to create a goal in the attacking third.
The best teams are the ones who can play the 1-2 touch soccer because the oponent does not have time to react.
At any level, holding onto the ball equals getting caught in possesion.
then you saw them completely, and I mean completely dominate North Bay Elite-- outshooting them 20-1 and and do the same to Santa Clara. Timbers just couldn't find the back of the net. An own goal doesn't help
1-0 loss to Mustang had the Timbers again outshoot Mustang and out-possess N Cal's top team. Mustang coach and parents said they were lucking to win the game.
Timber played fantastically. Which may explain why they were just accepted into that Surf Thankgiving Cup-- the #1 Ranked tournament in the country.
But keep hating if it gives your life meaning....
Mustang is not N Cal's top team. They played in the Crossfire Challenge and did not win it (knocked out by San Juan Spirits another N Cal team). They did not make it to the finals of the Mustang Stampede (won by SRU Temors, another N Cal team). They finished last in their group at Surf (Manteca, yet another N Cal team made the finals).
Mustang is a solid team, but certainly is not N Cal's top team. They might not even be in the top 5 in N Cal.

Why don't you pull up the gotsoccer site and tell me which tournament they rank as number 1. Looks to me that someone does actually know what they are talking about and it's not you. But it's never you.

Oh gotsoccer. Glad you were able to read it on the internet. Just being honest its not as competitive as the summer one where the TOP 5 S Cal teams showed up.
What was your tournament record this year against top teams outside of Oregon? That must have really impressed the surf cup reviewers.

Sounds like they beat your kids team! Ha ha. You're jealousy is pathetic.....
And by the way, playing to win, they went 4-0 the first week of NWCL. Oh, sorry . That's Northwest Champions League. You might've read about it on this blog. Maybe next year you can qualify!

Agree that anything your team does somehow gets posted on hear as the greatest achievement ever including 0-3 at the mustang.

Wrong. Find me a VTimber parent posting any results. No, really, find me one. Ive looked after every tournament they won and nothing. They appear to not really care....
