Yes I did which is why I know exactly what I'm talking about.
then you saw them completely, and I mean completely dominate North Bay Elite-- outshooting them 20-1 and and do the same to Santa Clara. Timbers just couldn't find the back of the net. An own goal doesn't help
1-0 loss to Mustang had the Timbers again outshoot Mustang and out-possess N Cal's top team. Mustang coach and parents said they were lucking to win the game.
Timber played fantastically. Which may explain why they were just accepted into that Surf Thankgiving Cup-- the #1 Ranked tournament in the country.

hahahaha, you are a joke. It was literally that one sided for 2-3 games and the 3rd against Mustang was even that time on the ball had nothing to do with it. I should point out that those teams don't exactly pressure hard....90 degree weather on a huge turf field, they were begging teams to play in the style your DD teams plays.
Don't be jaded and talk out of your butt. There was a good conversation going before you had to throw in a incorrect crack based on your self-esteem issues.
I think this was a good conversation as the previous poster put. I think that once you get people trying to give an example (GOOD OR BAD) based on their points...you get a troublesome parent who can't seem to stomach that and makes some stupid comment.
Don't respond to him V-Timbers parents and lets get back to the conversation we had because i have a question:
WOULD YOU CHOOSE A TEAM THAT IS WINNING BUT NOT SO GOOD ON TEACHING THE GAME VS. A TEAM THAT IS TEACHING THE GAME BUT ISN'T WINNING.
Before you answer, think about the simple fact that you cannot switch teams based on you thinking your kid can make a team later etc.....
Completely untrue statement. You must be going to the wrong practices. I know plenty of girls with great technical skills who have done NO private training. I won't mention their names on here because the second I do someone will blast them. These are all either regional team players or hold over players.
It seems to me that the better OPL U13 coaches (e.g. EMFC, FC, LO) are doing a good job with what they have. They are teaching the girls the right way to play and not focusing on boot ball to win.
The top 5 or so players on these OPL teams have speed, skill, and are on track (with/because of good coaching) with their technical and tactical skills. The difference between EMFC, LO and FC compared to the top CA/top 2 Seattle teams are CA/Seattle have 10 or even 15 girls with the athleticism and speed of the top 5 of FC, EMFC and LO girls. There is only so much that can be done with an good athlete vs an elite (for lack of better word) athlete. It's not really fair to compare the coaching and say it is inferior just based upon watching the top OPL team playing a top CA team. I believe the better U13 OPL coaches could coach those top CA/Seattle teams with just as much success as their current coaches.
And I believe these U13 OPL teams with continued good coaching will develop a few D1 players just not as many per team as Seattle/CA simply because of Seattle/CA having more top athletes to begin with.

I agree, lets get back to the right conversation.
I would take the team that is winning because at least they will get good talent coming to it.

But keep hating if it gives your life meaning....
Surf Thanksgiving is not the #1 tournament in the country. Surf Cup in the summer is and I do believe FC Portland, Eastside Red (WA), and NW Nationals played in that this past summer so it is nothing new.
Yes I did which is why I know exactly what I'm talking about.
You have shown the exact opposite... That you have no idea what you are talking about. I am in no way, shape, or form affiliated with the VT U13G team. I have not seen them play since they were U11. But I am 100% certain that if this team truly, successfully plays 1-2 touch passing, possession as you suggest, they are also technically sound, technically confident, and I have no doubt that they can individually beat people or take risks if need be. To insinuate that VT has less individual technical skills because they are an excellent 1-2 touch possession team is crazy.

Actually I think he's right. The "Surf Thanksgiving Tournament" is higher rated than the summer Surf Cup that is if you believe Gotsoccer ratings. (note: both tournaments are Gotsoccer tournaments)
If no, then why would you bother going to watch a bunch of 12 year old girls play in 90 degree heat in California?
90 isn't even hot and I support all our our NW teams attending out of state tournaments. Gotta kill the time between games somehow so what better way then watching more soccer.

Summer Surf is the tournament to win. Thanksgiving Surf is good but doesn't draw the same competition. Both are great tournaments but everyone knows Thanksgiving Surf is no where near the quality of summer Surf. I have had a child attend both for years. I wish the VT Timbers the best of luck! It will still be one of the better tournaments for the year!
Hats off to you FCPDX parent who literally doesn't think before they talk. Do you realize that when these two teams meet up Eugene spends a good portion of the game dominating you? FCPDX is not the better team right now and to say so is ridiculous.
Eugene is a great team and we alway enjoy playing your team. Hopefully it was not an FC Parent going on here and claiming that we are a better team. The result last weeked was a tie. Many of the results between our teams have been tie. We have probably won an equal number of games that we have lost vs. Eugene. Even when we win, the game is close until the very end.
Not sure if we have played you more then once in Eugene (Maybe twice). Like I said Eugene is a very good game. I am not sure I would say that FC Portland gets dominated by Eugene. There are moments (about 5 minutes) in our games where it seems like one team dominates, but IMHO this goes back and forth and really evens out.
I would say the teams are pretty even. On any given day one team may be slightly better then the other.
