In the older ages High School begins to influence transfer decisions too. When they play with "new" friends at high school...often in an environment that coaches aren't yelling as much and pressure not as intense...they remember soccer can be fun with friends. This makes for a lot of changes at the U15/U16 level. Good ones find out that they can get better somewhere else...and be with friends. The clubs do a terrible job of building "teams". I realize they get 2 practice and a game...but it is solely focused on soccer skills. Players play better with kids that they like and trust. They play more free flowing, and they play with greater confidence.
In high school the kids spend all year with each other, the build friendships that transfer to the pitch.
