At top clubs in area you always have a core 12 kids at each age group who will not move. That leaves 8 to 10 families who are unhappy and looking for a change at every age group. Some are overlooked and need a fresh pair of eyes judging talent and some are just not very good. At high level ECNL Clubs, especially ones at top of area (like Thorns) they tend to shed lower half and attract others top players. Always movement though, to be expected.

But they won’t because the leadership is terrible.

FC Portland who doesn’t have a single competitive team.

Thorns Academy who don’t have any history of success and quite the opposite if you look at the past two years. They got enough players to make teams but as the players got older the families started to leave because the quality didn’t match the propaganda.

As opposed to the other ECNL platform in town, who sacked the coach who was the main reason for their success, and which has seen its partner clubs (whose combined resources made CU a viable platform) leave?

If you wanna argue "everyone sucks", go ahead. If you want to argue that NWEFC remains the top girls' club in town, put down the absinthe.

-The Thorns can't beat anyone
-The Thorns are just Westside
-The Academy has no connection to the NWSL organization
-The Thorns management sucks and is toxic
-Teams hardly ever practice at Providence Park

In the past week:
-The Thorns dominated FC and NW Elite
-The Academy broke ties with Westside's "toxic" culture and moved fully under Timbers/Thorns management
-Regular practices at Providence Park will move towards all practices

This week:
-The Thorns still suck
-Being the top team in Oregon doesn't mean anything
-They are going to lose all of their players
-The new management sucks and is doomed to fail
-Their's nothing special about practicing at Providence. It's just another field.

Absolutely agree, like him or hate him KL poured himself into making CU a top level club.

KL worked at it being a DOC and got results; way more results then deserved by a Club with little to offer.

Now the Thorns path forward has been cleared by the Board at CU and is the only real choice left in this town for top players.
