Good for Thorns!!! Also think Bridge City at younger ages is a great development group. Some really great women coaches in this city…

I think Thusc, or what ever they now want to be called, has a problem with female coaches. Hence them all leaving to form bridge city.

Probably why CU has been destroying thorns for this long. Thorns like they always do, do everything based on what it looks like. CU does what is the most effective.

you can have a women coach but she may or may not be terrible. You choose.

Don't think gender has much to do with a coach being terrible at coaching. I believe that women are suited better to coach young ladies and not sure why we are not pushing for this more at upper ages? Talking U-15 and up specifically. Surprisingly small group of women coaching at these upper levels in Oregon.

                      You a clearly confused.

You also clearly haven’t seen enough to make these statements. Women or men, the best coach is the best coach. You choosing based on gender is a joke and part of the reason why a lot of these clubs are suffering because they are choosing based on gender and getting killed by clubs choosing based on quality.

I’ll take any coach as long as it’s best for my kids. You hire some woman to check a box and they are garbage, you’ve not only done a disservice to the players but also that coach.

Not sure why you say I am confused. Statement: (Gender has nothing to do with a coach being horrible....) (I believe women are better suited to coach our young ladies...) Neither of those statements contradict, and each of these statements can stand on its own. My daughters have had many great male coaches and we were happy to have them coach our girls. Just think it is past time for Women to take the lead at higher levels.

I have seen enough and experienced plenty to make these statements. Agree best coach is best coach, but we don't have many women coaching men at high levels do we? We have women willing and capable to take the lead with coaching our young ladies and this is the direction we should be going. In this day and age it is no longer good enough for status quo and I commend Thorns group for leading this charge.

There are as many American women playing high level (college/pro) than American men nowadays. This means at least as many women than men in the soccer coaching pipeline which traditionally consists of ex college and pro players. There really is no reason women should not be around half of the coaching staff at youth soccer clubs overall.

Actually I think you can make an argument for more U.S. women playing high level College and pro and it has been that way for awhile.
