Maybe not much different than other years, don't know. But still true IMHO.

And BTW, it was 1-0 with 5 minutes left in championship and Eugene was missing a couple key starters as well. It was a close and hard fought game. That's why I said it was 'just a summer tourney'; only was showing some parody that I still believe exists. Still lots of work to be done for sure.
"Hold your horses" was exactly the point I was trying to make when resonding. Just relax and enjoy the victories.. You guys will have your time. :)

Oh I am sure that is it, I always forget how sentimental Oregon premier council is. Always looking out for the little guys!

I based the comment prior to the Mt Hood Challenge - which I think was a fair assessment. No doubt, good showing in the tourney and might change my mind a bit on that team.

This might be another argument that the top 14 teams between Premier and 1st Division are very close in quality and can beat each other on any given day. Basing that comment on the fact that Freeze finished tied for second in Div 1 in the Fall. Did they improve that much or is that gap between the top 14 or so very small? That was my original point to begin with anyway.
Another reason why not to judge the strength of a team based on summer tournament play. ODP tryouts for 98's was this same weekend. U14 rosters are a split of '98s and 99's. Maybe families are getting in a last vacation before the school year? Who knows...fall and spring play will tell a better tale with hopefully a unified state cup at the end of it all. I watched the Mt Hoood Challenge BU14 Premier final between CFC and HSC...bad soccer from both sides.

I view summer tournaments as just another data point. It is still meaningful to finish runner up in this tournament, and might suggest the Freeze team has closed the gap some. As for vacations, I have found that is usually about a wash. Most families plan their vacations around soccer at the Premier level , so you might be missing 1 or 2 but nothing significant, and it's usually about the same number between opponents. However, 98's being in ODP is significant - I didn't realize that. That most certainly played into the strength of teams during the Mt Hood Challenge.

I am a parent of a Hillsboro player. Our team has changed a lot over the course of four years. For a club that is small on the competitive side, Freeze has been able to get stronger players every year. We are getting better every season. We played in the premier division this past spring and did very well for our first go in that division. My experience over the past seasons is that Hillsboro and other small clubs get labled as having bad teams that can't compete at the top level. While some of our teams are less competitive, it is unfair to link Freeze as a lower level team. They will win some and lose some this fall but at the end of the day, they do belong in premier division. We look forward to playing every team regardless of who they are. We love playing teams that are stronger as our boys learn from those games.

And that is a great attitude to have. You are lucky your team has improved each year. That is hard to do over time with the natural attrition that typically happens as the kids get older.

                Refreshingly POSITIVE attitude! + + + + +
Best of luck to your team this year and beyond!

Thanks, we are enjoying the whole experience. Your initial post was just a bit sarcastic when all I was pointing out was the top D1 teams may be just as good or better than some premier teams in U12G. And your post actually supported this in your talk of the movement of players from CUSC to Eastside. I do not think dominating D1 will be an easy task with the Westside teams and some other tough D1 teams. I do know it will be fun for my daughter and all of us who get the pleasure of watching them. Best of luck to you.
