What about those seniors in U18? Did they know they won't play much when they signed? Do they still get recruited just for being in the team?

Are smoking crack? How would we know yet who is going to be recruited and whether playing on the team, albeit not on the field, will help you. More than likely, if you are not good enough to play on the starting team, you are not going to play on a D1 team unless the Tmiber DA is the best in country, which it is not. And no, there was no discussion that you would not play if you joined the team. I am no aware of these kind of conversations in club.

            no conversation

There will be no conversations about playing time unless the all mighty and powerful GW wishes it. You will not play D1 soccer unless the all mighty and powerful GW wishes it.

Hail GW and all the good he is doing for Oregon soccer. Good luck to the Timbers in the playoffs, oh wait, I mean in the US open cup, oh wait, in the Cascadia Cup, good luck in that made up trophy.

            GW OUT

The rudeness of the post aside, a senior you should know by now if there's recruiting interest. In fact, if you don't know, you'd better get busy if you want to play. It's not too late, but the focus is on 2014 players at this point, not 2013s.

There won't be many D1 players coming out of the 2013 class in Oregon. There weren't many coming out of 2012 either. There will probably be a few more from 2014, but again, not all that many.

d2 and certainly d3 are all available. go for it. I still do not understand OSU--they seem to make little effort just in their back yard.

Yea, I have seen U of W coach scouting the DA at least two times. They own the sounders and cross fire.

I know the OSU coach....he doesn't waste his time with many players in state.....Oregon doesn't have the quality needed to play D1....especially on a cosistent basis.

Oregon doesn't have the quality that most other states have. There are very few creative players coming out of Oregon...most if not all are very "robotic" in the way they play.

agreed...I moved here 7 years ago from Texas....Oregon is far behind the rest of the country with regards to Academy's and league structure....

The Timbers Academy will help in the long run....you people just need to be patient and put the time in. If only the entire state could get on the same page...until that happens Oregon will be left behind.

This is funny. It would be one thing if they were really good. Compare the Oregon players he's signed to those that play elsewhere. I'd take the guys who play elsewhere. Have you ever seen them play?

                            Listen......

Do you think that OSU gets the best D1 prospects?

Most Oregon players aren't even second tier D1 prospects let alone top tier D1 prospects!

now that are a select few coming through the Timbers DA that will have great opportunities, but it won't be at OSU.

95% of players that are developed here in Oregon are solid NAIA players, and that's it.

and there is nothing wrong with that.

No I don't think OSU gets the best D1 prospects although they got a top class player this year. I do think as the only major university program in Oregon and one of only two in the entire northwest (UW and OSU -- SU, Gonzaga, UP aren't major universities) they should do better. Since less than 5% of high school age players go on to play in college or beyond 95% of players aren't college material at all.

PS There aren't that many top D1 programs and second tier is just that--second tier. A lot of decent players may well be better off playing NAIA, DIII or DII at top programs in those divisions. Bottom line is they'll be better off going to school regardless of the level of play.
