I'd take a one-eyed Steve Kerr to run PTFC. He didn't want the Blazers job - will he take the Timbers?

Some of the selections for the 94/95 team and the 96/97 team border on absurd. Good luck; perhaps they can match the MLS level of futility.

The Timbers are crazy. There whole mentality is if you don't like it then screw off, really that is GW's culture. One day he will learn the Portland Timbers are the fans not him

I reached out to a couple of the boys that where selected and it appears they are training as of this week and that the Timbers have not made the list public yet to allow for the contact of HS / club Coaches.

Sounds like they want to give the players an oppertunity to speak with their old coaches in person. Rather than have the coches get the good news from the media.

Also sounds like a few players from out of state where selected. On from Vegas who had been down at RSL Academy in AZ and a Keeper from Utah. Not sure if there where others.

Not buying that explanation. The likelihood that there's a high school coach that didn't know one of his players made the academy team seems quite low. Just stick with the most plausible explanation and look at the record of the folks running the youth program and the record of the guy running the club. I think you'll find your answer right there. They can't get their act together. Plus, the day the Timbers start caring about high school teams and coaches will be the first. Every presentation they give disparages high school play as detrimental.

Not sure if washington is considered out of state for this. I know of one from Wash. that played with the Sounders Academy last year is now with Timbers.

There are several Washington players who made the academy teams. SWW is in the Timbers territory so they're local.
